My E30 just turned 25, which means i don't have to pass emissions...
Which is good...cause the PO removed the cat.

Once it fails you have 15 days to fix it and get it reinspected.

I had a guy tell me my newly changed gas shocks were leaking oil. So I took it to tohe station next had to pay another $16 and it passed.
I'm sorry the inspection station you went to tried to rip you off. Did you check if they actually were? And if you knew they were good, you should have told the inspection station to call the state trooper. They will always come out, and make sure the inspection station is doing a good job.

Yah, inspections are a pain when you have to get it done, but it keeps a lot of broken down cars off the side of the road. It's a good peace of mind when you know (for the most part) the car in front of you or behind you isn't going to shit out on you when driving or coming to a stop.

The only thing in Mass I dont like about the inspections are the exhaust and height laws.
They have those laws here too. But most inspectors don't mind too much, it's usually just the police that care about noise violations and ride height. And you wouldn't believe how many cars from my state I see driving ~80miles with faulty lights, brake noise, bad suspension etc.

        Thnx
The people that get charged are people that don't know the rules. Maybe next time after you call the police, or you don't want to call the police to come check it out, have the guy give you the broken part back. You are entitled to getting your parts back from the repair shop that fixed or replaced it for you.

But other than that, congrats on the passing of the inspection. It sucks waiting in line, but there is always a reason for everything.

Edit: Also, there are way harder inspections such as MD inspections... WAYYY harder than VA inspections and more expensive per inspection, but... you only do it twice in the vehicles life span.

DC inspection is even worse. They do a road test, and have a pad to make sure your brakes are adjusted properly, not just working properly. yah crazy stuff.
I got a fender roller now! LMK if you need me to roll your fenders or want to rent the tool from me locally.

lol I made the same thread when I passed inspection. I know what you mean tho. Nobody gets they are inspecting cars older than OBD1.

Inspection? WTF is that? 1990 & earlier qualifies for historic tags in MD which mean no safety inspection and no emissions inspections, period. MD doesn't have annual safety inspections anyway. It's awesome that your car passed though.
