If i started over, i wouldnt have tried tokico shocks/springs, or IE3s etc etc, and gone straight to "doing it right"

FWIW, The ebay adjusters' sleeves look supsiciously like the IE coils ive seen, and ive picked up GC tophats to go in, although honestly the welded ones work just fine.

I wouldn't worry about it... most of the guys preaching to you about using factory shocks with lowering springs have never done it themselves and have no experience other than word of mouth. Car looks good man, enjoy it.

You know your front shocks are bottomed out, right? All the travel you have in the front is from your tires. Go push down on your front fender if you don't believe me.

              And you haz no strance.

Other than that and your front fenders the car looks good though, lol.

i had the same whee/tire setup, throw some 15mm spacers in back and roll the fenders to even out the front/back in relation to the fenders.

also, you do know that eibach pro springs have nearly the same rate as stock ones, so you just basically cut stock springs. say goodbye to mr oil pan.

really so the pros suck ass? I still have about 3 inches of clearance for my oil pan. Yes spacers in the rear would look good and maybe a 225 .

eibachs have a 108lb/inch spring rate in the front and stock is like 114lb/inch or something

so yeah they are on the soft side

true dat.. had stock shocks with 60mm shorter springs on an E36 with no problems and on my E30 im running 60mm front 55mm rear on stock shocks with no problems. and im in the boon docks compared to u guys.. our roads suck ass big time and i havent popped a shock yet.

im thinking about sticking in some rear shocks (stock) that i pulled from the E36 when i parted it out. it was only a 318i but im thinking the shocks must be a little stiffer since the E36 weighs more than the E30. hoping it might sure up the rear end a little for getting off the mark a bit better. can launch the shit out of it already with 4.10 diff and a few bolt on (ish) mods and a nice chip. also 205/50/15 rubber, new on the back. wondering if the E36 shocks i have sitting here might help to limit how much the rear end squats taking off in 1st and going hard into 2nd. pulled a 2 second 60 foot time on the street on old all weather rears before the new sporty budget 205's went on. miss being able to spin most of 3rd gear in the wet tho lol

I've never understood the spring rate thing. Eibach springs have 108lbs/", but aren't they progressive? That is a linear measurement. This spec is not listed on eibachs site either. I just ordered the convertible springs and can't find any numbers. H&R were sold out everywhere I looked.

Also, good on you, OP. Probably the nicest cheap car I've seen. I wouldn't sweat what others say; doesn't look like you do.

spacers in the rear! in the end i was running 20mm spacers in the back, with rolled fenders.

I just want to clarify something.. when people say riding on stock shocks with lowering springs will "bottom out", we're not talking about the car hitting the ground. We're saying the shock is fully compressed all the time. ALL the time. Meaning there's a constant heavy pressure on them. It can result in a huge handling issue what with the incredibly increased "rough" ride quality and poor corning characteristics. Distant of the oil pan in relation to the ground is more pertinent when it comes to spring rates...

And since one is already leaking, that means they are in fact blowing out. I get not having the cash for 'em, but they should be a priority of some sort, you know? Mostly just be aware and careful. Your suspension isn't 100%.
                                Need a part? PM me.
