What kind of gas mileage are you getting in this beast on a good day? Very cool car. Nice work!
I am suprised you have such a long rear diff gear... Is that a byproduct of the different transmission?

Check your specs buddy: http://www.bimmerforums.com/engine_faq.php
The m62tu weighs the same as the 24v engines, not the m60b40
m/s 50/2 = 299-308 lbs depending on options
m60 = 321 lbs
While the engine weight maybe minute, the v8 transmissions are larger, and probably weigh a good 15-20lbs more than the ZF320/Getrag trans options with 24v. A total of up to 40 lbs more then a 24v swap, which already detrimentally changes the handling characteristics of the e30.
As far as mileage is concerned, I wasn't referring to how it does on the highway. They do poorly in the streets unless you drive them like a grandma. I've never been a fan of the motor in the bigger bodied cars, but I'm sure it's fun in an e30. Not trying to take away from Greg's car, it's just not my cup of tea.Leave a comment:

Wtf are you talking about? They weigh less than a 24v swap and you can get mid 20's on the highway with them in an e34.This is a cool swap for the mere fact that it's a v8 in an e30. However, the m60/62 is a poor choice in a motor. Heavy, guzzles gas, makes pretty pathetic power for the amount of displacement.
I'm wondering how the turn in and under-steer are in that car with all that added weight over the nose. It really messes with the weight distribution of the car.
I love the DSIIs, and the fact that it's a 4 door. I bet it's a fun car to romp around in, but I'd rather drop an LS1 in.Leave a comment:
