    Flat black hood?

So my cirrusblau coupe's hood is peeling real bad. Now, if I had a car with old, faded, but even/consistent paint I'd never think of painting it, however my hood is seriously flaking off everywhere. Roof is starting to go, too. I know a guy at work who knows a guy, etc etc who can repaint the car for cheap, but even cheap paint is a ways off. I have bigger issues to take care of first.

But, all my friends at work are telling me to flat black the hood. I dunno how to feel...something makes me think it will look like I'm a broke ass trying to look like a ricer, but the muscle car enthusiast in me makes me think of all the badass Mopars with flat black hoods. My buddy and I could flat black the hood for cheap as hell over a weekend. Like a friend at work said "at least it would make it look like you give a shit about the car"

Basically what I'm saying is, post up pics of e30s with flat black hoods and help me decide.

(by the way, yes I searched)

Cell phone pic but gives you an idea of how bad it is

When I saw the thread title I immediately thought: MOPAR. I dunno though. Try it and show it off.

Mazur's car comes to mind... CF, but should give you an idea how it would look?

        :(

My cirrus hood and roof are pretty bad too. I may be able to buff the hood up to speed but there are spots of rust on it and the roof paint is peeling off.

        I feel for ya man.
        paint sucks

Yeah, CF or painted black is fine too. Just anything to give me an idea. Don't know how many e30 owners have done this, so I'm not expecting a ton of replies, but surely somebody else was broke and bored and did it for fun, which is more or less why I'll be doing it.

It will get proper paint one day (in fact I'm not even rattle-canning the hood, I'll use a cheap Harbor Freight gun and a borrowed compressor w/real paint and a flattener, and have my buddy who used to be a body guy help me sand it down proper). But until I can afford/justify the money for real paint I figure this might be fun/look cool.

Also thinking of spray-paint stenciling some cool design in white on the corner at an angle to be artsy, but maybe not. First just trying to feel out the look.

Also, I found this pic of a Datsun 510 (japanese e30 equivalent?) that helps give me an idea.

And yes, this is more MOPAR inspired than anything else.

don't do it. my car came with a spray painted hood and it just looked terrible. Whether you spray paint it or not its gonna look like you don't give a shit because its gonna look ghetto either way. Leave it and do it the right way as soon as you can.

If you have a spray gun, why not get a can of "matched" paint and try and paint the hood yourself. It can't end up worse than it already is?
