Cleaned up the 330is a bit...

I spent a little time yesterday and a lot today cleaning 21 years of accumulated filth off of the E30's paint.

...let's just say that the car is now a different color. :)







I'm still tidying up the engine bay, but I'm pretty pleased with how cleanly it's turned out. I have no interest in "shaving" or getting rid of stuff, but I do want it to be reasonably tidy.

The E30 M3 wiring harness cover will go in as soon as I've added one last wire to hook up the reverse light switch.


The car still needs a few things (rear suspension bushings, the 3.25 diff that is over at Mike's, and rear wheel bearings). Next weekend, or the weekend after, we'll probably take care of those. In the meantime, it's a hoot to drive. :)

...and even better, once all that is taken care of, I'll be able to swap the historic plates for real ones.

The pinstripe is as tasteful as pinstripes can be. I'm not thrilled with it, but I'm not bothered by it enough to risk damaging the paint while removing it.

Have you seen some of the piles of junk driving around MD being used as daily drivers with Historic tags and cops don't do anything to them.

If you're not driving it on the weekend, they pretty much have the right to stop you and make sure you aren't commuting in it regularly. I would rather not worry about whether I am driving it too often, and I'd like to have the option to drive it every day.

It absolutely depends on the cop. I also suspect that they tend to harass the nicer historics more.

The other issue is that I may spend a bit of time parking in a commuter garage. If there is one way to get picked for it, that'd be it.
