I think is a blast to drive with smg no damn clutch needed and faster to change gears

Cool purchase. Wish I had the money to spend.
Na it shifts pretty nice as it has its setting as to how quick the response you want as for the 5er I wouldn't know what to say.

But nice looking car, not a great fan of the imola interior but your the one that likes it not me.

i dont like the SMG but the miles color and the 19s are beautiful

There is a good debate on which transmission is best the SMG or manual, I owned a 2002 6 speed and loved every minute of ownership and now own a car lot and sell alot of BMW's and from time to time we get M3's in. We just had a Carbon Black on Black Sport package M3 SMG and I decided to drive this one for a couple of weeks to see if I could get the "hang" of the SMG....

At first it was super annoying and I felt that I was never in control of it and it just did what it wanted, did not like it at all but I kept driving it and when I got used to it and was able to use it properly it was awesome, almost to the point that I preferred it to the 6 speed, I think SMG's are faster (there is no way you can change gear as fast as SMG), you have to drive one for an extended time to make a decision, if you drive down the road in both you are definatly going to prefer the 6 speed but over an extended period the SMG will impress you.

By the way this one was 100,000 miles, Sport package, 19's, Nav etc etc and we sold it for 17,000

Nice! A buddy of mine picked up a 2004 M3 a few months ago, hell of a fun car to drive.

Really want to buy one like it, but it's to much to maintain.

wowee. Normally, you don't post about a nice car that you haven't bought yet, from CL, on a forum. But this is R3V, where most cannot afford e46 m3s
                  Excellent color combo.
btw, the e92 m3's smg blows that of the e46 away, to piece.

wow love every part of the car except the SMG tranny. personally i have driven SMG from a close friend that has an e46, and i seemed to not like it. im pretty sure manual would be way more fun to drive, but again, great looking car!

Oh I see. Yea, the 5er had an SMG in it. He bought it in Germany and imported it here through a dealership.
