I did my first track day at Mallala last Sunday - thought some of you might be interested in having a look at some pics a mate took...
This is Mallala Motorsport Park:
It's built on a disused airfield, and hosts various national and local events. A couple of times a month, they have open practise sessions where you can take out your car/bike/kart and run some laps. It only costs US$50 for five fifteen minute sessions, which is bloody good if you ask me 8)
It's not a driver ed day or anything, you just go out there, put on a helmet and try not to hit stuff. Good times.
The track's got some really fun bits. Turn one is a corner that you can carry a lot of speed into, except there's a big yump just before the apex that unsettles the car and makes ya shit your pants the first time you turn in quicker than normal...
The back straight is fun too as you can go into the kink at around 130/140klicks (170+ if you're not a slow ass driver like me), try to build some speed through the corner (while the car is feeling a bit sketchy an unstable) then get hard on the brakes into a hairpin, the tightest corner in the circuit.
The last section is fun too - 2nd gear flowing esses. Good stuff.
So yeah, here's some pics:
Entering T1:

Midway thru T1:

And my one week old Yokies after one session. Doh!

Hopefully most of those rubber nuggets belong to other people...
Some paddock pics:
(yes, I know my fr bumper isn't Mtech2, or colour matched. That will be fixed soon as I have an Mtech2 front sitting here at home)

I was the only E30 that got out there for some track time unfortunately.
Here's some of the other guys:

So yeah, that's it. If any of you guys get a chance to put in some track time, DO IT, it's incredible fun, but you will be addicted... I'm going back again in late April :D
