i would avoid 205/40s on an e30 if i were you. id do 205/45s if youre set on 205s. personally i'd go a little more chunk, or you'll be left with either:

    1) a lot of wheel gap
    2) a car that is too low to enjoy at all once youve filled the wheel gap

i'm not anti stretch or any of that junk, but what looks good and works on mk3 vws doesnt work on an e30, trust me, i know. :p

      This.

I literally broke tyre's sidewall when running 215/40 on 16/9" rims...

Going with 205/40/16 all around. I was going to do more stretch up front up 195/40 is such a bastard tire size to find.

That's what I was going to say. And for me I'd probably do 205/45 front 215/45 rear.

I like the stretch to be = front to rear. But that's just me.

Thanks for all the input guys, it really helps. The 205/40's were just delivered, I wonder if DiscountTire will take them back. I want the stretch so will the 45 sidewall still have some?

205/40 will give you enough stretch. Im running a 215/40 on a 16x9 and the stretch is pretty good.

                  This is 16x9 et 15 with a 15mm spacer.

i would do a 45. I have 205/40 16s on my car currently and theres not much gap, but the wheels just look a little small
