I actually daily the same car. '07 Yaris Hatch. Definitely an appliance car but the combo of low cost / low maintenance / good gas mileage is a real winner if you have to do a lot of commuting. I just clocked over 72000 miles with the only maintenance required being oil changes. I haven't even had to do brake pads yet. Honestly around here it's not worth daily driving anything interesting because the salt and road grime in the winter just destroys everything.

I feel the same way in new york, there is less than an inch of snow on the ground in the winter but the salt trucks are everywhere. I'm starting to get scared for the winter, Don't want the rust eating my e30.
