First post, done right. (With pic whorage) :)

Hello to everyone at R3V! I’ve been looking for a DD for a while, and I suffer from a “disorder” (lol) that prevents me from being able to own boring, typical daily drivers… I like to go fast, be low and loud, and hook corners, but most of all, be unique and stand out a bit. So I decided (with the help of a buddy with an e30) that an e30 would be the sweetest daily ever. My other car is a modified 1993 300ZX that will soon be converted from daily driver to weekend street car/time attack machine via open heart surgery, otherwise known as a twin turbo swap. So the guy I bought the 325 from purchased it bone stock, owned it for a year and put 1000 miles and 1 track day on it, wanted to sell the it along with his 513whp mini cooper to buy an e46 M3. Looked good in the craigslist ad so I drove 127 miles to go check it out. Picked it up 2 days later, wanted $4000, drove off for $3300. This is my first BMW, and first German car for that matter, and I have to say that I am loving it! It’s surprisingly quick and handles awesome! I'm definately a newbie in the Bimmer world but I can't wait to learn about every square inch of this car :)

    1989 BMW 325i, 2-door, 5-speed

    Here’s what she’s got--

    Upkeep (within last 1000 miles):
    New front a-arms
    All new ball joints
    All new bushings
    New rotors front/rear
Timing belt, tensioner, water pump, belts all replaced
    Dash re-wired, new odometer gears
All vacuum hoses, coolant hoses, lines, and bad gaskets replaced

Mods (Also done within last 1000 miles):
    Pioneer AVIC-N2 dvd/navigation unit w/ ipod hookup
    4 JL Audio 6” speakers
    10” JL Audio Sub
    Sony Xplod amp
    HID kit with proper projectors
Z3 short shifter w/ weighted “M” leather knob
    Aftermarket steering wheel
    Intake & Filter
    Manifold-back exhaust system
    Bosch mass air conversion
    Chipped, limiter raised to 7000RPM
    Upgraded brake pads
    TR Motorsports wheels, 15x8
Kumho Ecsta XS tires, 205/50ZR15 (180 treadwear)
    Carbon fiber sunroof delete panel
    Carbon fiber emblems
H&R Cup kit (springs & shocks)
    Ireland front strut tower brace
    Ireland camber plates
    Solid front arm bushings
Eurathane rear trailing arm bushings, adjustable camber and toe
    Eibach anti-sway bars
Brand new Sparco Chrono Road seats ($1000)
    3.73 Limited Slip Differential

The bad (but not really that bad):
190K on the clock… but the odometer did stop working at some point so actual mileage could be different.
Was re-painted at some point and its fading
    Couple minor oil leaks
Some drivetrain chatter when slipping the clutch under a load (like starting on a hill)
    Few cracks in the dash
    No headliner
Driver door wont power-lock the car with the key, need to use the trunk or passenger door lock. It does power-unlock with the driver side.
    Blinker return doesn't work

    The good:
Starts up right away, hot or cold
Idles smooth and stays at running temp
Pulls hard, will dyno in the near future
    Transmission is smooth as butter
    Clutch grabs hard
    Handles awesome
    Brakes are rediculous
Everything else works! (including the A/C which was converted to 134a)

I could have gone for something that was more comfortable, with better mpg, not modded, more reliable, and boring like a DD is supposed to be, but I just refuse to roll around in some beater automatic civic. If I'm driving it every day I want to have some fun!

    93' Slicktop.....$9250
    Mods..............$8000+
    Modded E30.....$3300
Waking up every day and having to choose between rolling in style or rolling in style... priceless

    ONTO THE PICS ALREADY!!!!!!

    My other whip ;)

So what do you think? The only plans I have for it (other than normal upkeep) is put in a headliner, get new fog lenses & yellow bulbs, and get a roof rack for bikes!

Nice pickup--welcome to R3v. I don't see mention of an LSD, if it's got an open diff I'd get on that and then just enjoy it. Also, 7200rpm is a bit high for a stock B25. I'd try not to ride that limiter (or honestly, I'd try not to even touch it).
    paint sucks

Oops forgot to mention the LSD :) And I think the limiter is actually 7K, I had to bounce it once just to see where it was

Haha they are definately two different cars. Did you have your 240 or your 318 first?

240 was definitely first. Funny thing, I havent driven my e30 for more than 30 minutes. I dismantled it as soon as it came in the garage.

Nice lookin car. Needs to be sorted out and cleaned up (wiring, etc). Ditch the flip out dvd thingy. Gay.

I'm aaaaalll about the grip! Now I have to decide how I'm gonna get both of my cars to the next autoX event :)

Super slammed 300ZX's don't handle quite as well... gotta have some travel, and bottoming out in the front is a problem with going too low. Up front I only have 69mm of travel as it sits which is matched pretty perfect with the 10K coilovers. And to tell you the truth I don't even know if the suspension on my e30 has adjustable ride height haha, but it's lower than stock so that's good enough for me... for now...
