Feel free to shoot me a PM if you have any M42 questions. I just rebuilt mine. Darin helped a lot too so he's prob a good resource as well.

      Wow.

      To the o/p:

So what else is being taken from the 318is? Keeping it a secret for now?

Oh trust me. When I do things, I do them right. ;) Here are a few other pieces of this project:

Completely custom made fuse/relay box (E30 inspired). Car is getting completely rewired to accommodate it.

        Custom LED tail ligts

Keypad in center console. Think The Transporter. :)

I've actually already been reading a lot of your threads. I've also talked to Darin a bit as well. I'll definitely hit you up if I need anything. Thanks.

Not really much actually. Obviously the engine and tranny, but then I'm also making new doors panels that will incorporate E30 door pulls and map pockets, I'm using an E30 heater blower switch (converting from single speed fan to multiple) and also probably going to use E30 interior lights in the footwells. Few other smalls things like that as well.

I'd say coil on plug. Kits are only like 150 new. Less than the price of m42 plug wires.

Yeah, I will be upgrading to a COP kit, along with a euro flywheel and getting a MarkD chip. I may also be going to a custom made ITB setup to get rid of the stock intake manifold as I am going to need the engine as short as possible.

The 323 flywheel is a nice upgrade. Just use a late model m20 starter and a e21 323 TOB. Again, shoot me a PM if you have questions as I've done the mod.

they are coil on plug. my buddy has been using them on his VAC m42 engine for 8 years now without a hiccup.

Best combo on that motor period. That little MG is going to fly with that motor!! You going to use euro s50 ITB's or something completely custom?

Haven't looked that far into it yet. Probably go something custom and easier to source. I might also just end up making some kind of plenum attached to the lower section of in intake manifold and use the stock throttle body. But we will see. If the engine fits without modification, I'll just run the stock intake.

I also have the option of running an MGC hood, which has a raised area in the middle that would give me more clearance.

Flairs won't happen until I go with a custom 4-link in the back and a wider rear axle.
