Fuck dude i was gunna say that about the switches. I think I might give this a try. That would be so sick looking and I'd stop hearing, "how do you open your window?".

Switchless console looks amazing.
Now I wonder how I'm going to put 4 window switches into the door pulls?

Thanks guys. I’m madly in love with it.
Here's a shot after getting the seats back in:
Cupholder:
From SFGadgetGuy of this this thread.
Console:
Years ago, I became obsessed with running an early model/crank window/buttonless console. I was gaga for how much better it looked w/out buttons.
The window-kill switch slayed me. When would this button ever get used? Why was it on the passenger side?
I've seen two-button consoles - but then the passenger window switch (from the factory) is placed 'forward' - and on the 'other' side of the gear shift. A lone driver would have to reach all the way around the knob to get at the up/down buttons.
So yeah - where to put the window switches?
The switches run 5 thick/powered wires - and routing that shit out to somewhere(?) in the door cards would just be kinda silly.
I couldn't figure out where to put them - until I'd seen/looked at pictures of the 316i panel. Then it clicked. That's where I'd put them. Fuck it. And so there they are. I like the symmetry and de-clutteredness. I like how [most all] control buttons are now in one, centralized place.
Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear once talked about how if there was one thing that entertained him about Citroens, it was how some of the buttons would be in the oddest, weirdest places. It gave the car character. I’m totally fine with them in that odd place. They’re w/in easy reach. I’ll know where they are.
Never liked OBCs. They look retarded, cheap, and worst: distracting - so I'm stoked to have that gone. With the US HVAC panel, the defrost and hazard buttons drove my OCD ass up the wall with how off-kilter they looked. I put them in several different combinations of places – and was never happy with it.
If the only thing I need to worry about is how the shifter boot is placed, then I’m in good shape. All the.. ah, ‘foreskin’ lol, is a result of an exercise to see what it’s like with the shortest possible shift knob. UUC lever is adjusted fully down. The unpopular, n/a short knob was installed. Result pictured. I know, I know, I know that having a tall-ass knob 2 inches from the steering wheel is more ideal. I’m sorry, but I just have to see what it’s like to drive the car with a short setup and resulting shorter throw due to shorter geometry. I’ll figure out how to arrange the boot later I guess.

I wonder if SFGadgetGuy will make more of his fantastic cup holders. I have two I pirated off his design spec's but I can't nail down a good looking cup holder insert. Good stuff though, his work is genuine quality.
On topic, great work Simon, really, great work. I love reading your threads. It's like I'm being schooled and pleasured all at once.Need a part? PM me.

And that shift boot/knob does look very odd...Comment

Same, I've been thinking about doing the same with mine, but I have a better spot that I'm going to relocate the switches to. I also have the 316i HVAC panel, and ditched the OBC for the same reasons as the OP. Never had any use for it, and it's very cluttered and distracting, too many damn little buttons.

Then they'd be in the same place that every other car has their power window switches located. I already have a space planned for them, totally out of sight, but completely and easily accessible.Comment
