        Nice cars ian

I help out occasionally at richards shop and scored some m5 parts of one of the guys at unique, he has a e39 5 series of some sort.

I have seen your alpha driving around town.

a friend of mine developed a maf conversion for the alpha
he has one exactly like yours

              Okay
So got the car running but ran into a problem.
I got a m42 radiator the one with expansion tank on the side... but from the junk yard.
It seemed to be in good condition but now I'm thinking other wise.
So basically the car is "over heating". The thermostat I thought wasn't opening but I tested it and it opened sooner then the new one I bought. So if any one has any insight on ideas let me know. The head and gasket are fine. The oil isn't milky and I did a leak down test.
What radiators are you guys running on your 2.7's?
I just wanted the clean bay look but as of now I just want to drive it.

m42 radiators are tricky to bleed the coolant system

one trick is drill a tiny hole in the thermostat

the better trick is to run the heater on 4 with all the vents open
and raise the driver side front end with a jack to get all of the air pockets out.

the best is to do all of the above.

                  ohhh.... :-(
okay I will try that I just don't like jacking the car up when its running I feel like I'm going to starve the motor of oil. I did have the heater open on 4 with the 3 vents open but its still blowing cold air...? Guess 'll try drilling a hole as well.
I just am concerned on keep on "heating it up"

okay so here is the deal.
I feel like my radiator I got isn't good. Though I put a hose in one end and it came out in a consistent flow on the other side. Though I am confused. When i fill up the expansion tank on the side of the radiator it just go into the small 1/2" line at the bottom. I know that the radiator won't fill up until the thermostat is open, so I just took it out. The problem is it didn't start pulling in the coolant the level stayed the same. I'm not sure if the water pump just isn't working.... which is what I'm leaning towards. Does any one have any experience with the m42 radiators on m20's? I'm confused and just want to drive the car.

The water pump works fine, it's the mechanic that's the problem.

So whats your suggestion Matt? I know that the water pump was replaced when I got the motor from you. I'm just a little confused on this one.
