Well, the parts sourcing has started in ernest...

Hartge Typ-A Alufelgen (Staggered 16x7.5F 16x8.5R) thanks to AC Nico:

        And a Hartge Domstrebe:

The project has essentially become one of how many genuine Hartge bits can I find. Both the wheels and brace will get returned to thier original shiny glory soon after my return. I've been scouring the forums and the various international ePay sites and I'm hoping for quite the pile once I get gome, much to the wife's chagrin. I'm also budgeting for a complete suspension refresh, but I'm gonna hold off on getting those parts on order until I can take a good look at what is already on the car, probably when I come home on leave.

So we have twins? I'm on the same wheels. Nice choice. What sized tires are you planning to run? I have 225-45-16's

Nice, I was planning on 225/45R16's all around but with the staggered wheels I was thinking maybe 215/40's in the front. How's your look with the square tires on staggered wheels? Can't really tell in the pic...

Here's what Mystikal quoted me when I had my set:

205/45/16 front and 215/40/16 rear (mild roll in rear)
205/50/16 front and 225/45/16 rear (more aggressive roll)

Keep in mind that's for a non-M car, so you can probably get away with the second setup.

Finding two decent brand/model tires in a staggered size was kind of difficult and I ended up selling my set anyway. But good luck, can't wait to see how this turns out.

Also, keep an eye on those tabs with the snap ring. They are very brittle and new centercaps are NOT cheap, and I believe they are NLA.

I am running Falken FK452 right now, was running Hankook RS2 on them. RS2 have more sidewall than the FK452's do.

Thanks! I should be back to the PNW sometime before Summer. I'll be back for a couple of weeks for leave between now and then though.

Thanks, the second set-up is very close to Hartge's original spec...

So that one is pretty much sure to work. My main concerns though are dissimilar contact patch between the front and rear axles, understeer being the biggest fear. That's why I was looking at the 215 in the front or the 225's all around. The second concern was tire availability. So far the staggered selection has been somewhat limited.

As for the caps, I'm gonna be super carefull. It looks like Hartge does have some new ones in stock, but at 95 Euros each!

I hadn't looked at the Falkens, but I certainly will now. My main question for you is, just how noticable is the sidewall difference/stretch when running the 225's on the staggered wheels. If you say it's not noticable at all, or only under close inspection, I'd just as soon order the rubber and be done with it. Any sort of rubbing issues in front?

They are not 95 each I got some last month while in Germany for less. What I should have done was bought a bunch of sets and made my money back.

215/225 is not bad but 205/225 is too much and the car will start to plow/understeer. a 7.5 with a 225 is really not bad if you want I will dig thru my other photos to give you side shot.

There was a guy in Washington making reproduction stickers that are spot on. I used him sometime ago but then my jackass powdercoater folded and beat feet with materials and goods of mine and others. So i lost two sets of caps.
