I used a coinholder out of an e36 and fitted it into the ashtray. I can still close the lid if i want it to be hidden.

I wasn't planning on making and selling them, but mabey if the right offer pops up...
I payed $35 just for the coinholder/cupholder. They usually sell for more though. If you find one, you could probably make one.

Yeah, it looks cool, but I haven't figured out how to wire it up yet :oops:

I just cut the coinholer away from the cupholder with a hacksaw. I then cut the plastic piece off from in front of the coinholder and used that piece to make the two little cover pieces that sit next to the coinholder.

I had to modify the ashtray to make it fit. I removed the metal lining on the lid and cut off that strip of plastic that sticks down from the lid. I also had to cut the bottom of the ashtray open because the coinholder was taller than the ashtray. I just kept measuring, cutting, and sanding till all the pieces fit, then I glued it all in. Done.

Thanks guys. If I find another coinholder for sale cheap, I may make another one for someone. but don't count on it though.
