    The history on my M3...

How my car started, and how it became the machine it is today...

First off, I got into E30 M3's by needing a car and having someone suggest them to me. I checked one out and fell in love, bought it right then and there. It was a Brillantrot ‘90 with black interior... car was near mint. I did a full re-spray and it then deserved the “mint” status.

Then, after TuningWerks 2.0 on Feb. 23rd, 2002, I was struck by a drunk driver, and my baby was totaled. I imediatly started looking for my next car, I wanted another E30 M3 so bad. 3 weeks later, I found my current ///M, an ‘88 Lachssilber with black interior.

The car was pretty much stock, with a set of 17" E36 M3 wheels and re-upholstered seats. I bought it, and started driving it. I swapped some interior panels, diff with m-coupe cover, and added my splitter/wing from my red car. 3 weeks passed, and the motor was feeling tired and started leaking coolant from everywhere. I didn’t have time to rebuild it, so I swapped it out with the motor from my ‘90 M3, which was strong and had only 95k miles on it. Everything was smooth from here on out.

I started looking for mods, and quickly added a few to the car, with money from parting out my old M3. I took all the best parts and put them on my new car, to make it as good as possible. I added a sparco strut-bar, removed the K-Mac Camber plates, installed ST Springs, Bilstein Sport Shocks, all red tails, my JVC stereo with JL 12W3 sub. I then left the car as is for a few months. I slowly added more mods, like a Tri-Flo exhaust, smoked tails (thanks Mariano), MOMO shift knob and steering wheel, etc.

I finally got to the bodywork. I wanted to set my car apart from the rest of the bunch, so I made the bold move at filling the bumpers style lines and smoothing them out. I got an EVO2 style front bumper from Vladen and painted the bumpers and wing.

This held me over, until I blew the motor from running low on oil. I spun #2 and #3 rod bearings, and needed to rebuild it ASAP, as it was my only mode of transportation. I gathered the parts, and built a 2.5L like I always wanted. I had my engine powder-coated to match my wheels and the car was looking good.

Over the summer, I got a few finishing touches for the car, including adjustable trailing arm bushings, urethane subframe bushings, repainted bumpers/side skirts/mirrors/wing/decklid, an EVO3 wing, Carbon Fiber Flap from Vladen, painted my wheel lips silver, and installed some 245/35/17 Goodyear Eagle F1 tires. These changed my car entirely, and helped me lay down the added torque of my 2.5L.

In the works for my car now is a set of Schrick 284/276 Cams, Motorsport Valve Springs EVO3 Injectors, and an MAF Intake.

That's quite a long journey but the finished product more than makes it worth it! It's always unlucky to see a car in a crash but as you have proved, from one good thing, bigger and better things grow! Congrats on an absolutely awesome ///M3!!! You DEFINATELY have one of the best (if not the BEST) E30 ///M3's I have ever seen!

    Well done,

Yeah its a great country but unfortunately, they never made the E30 ///M3 in RHD from the factory (from what I have been told anyway) and as a consequence, there are only 4-6 examples here. Along with that, people claim that the RHD "custom conversions" are not as precise as the real thing because they use E30 325i steering racks (again because like the E30 ///M3 itself, they never made an E30 ///M3 steering rack to suit RHD vehicles). Nevertheless, I would (one day) love to own a LHD E30 ///M3 (somewhere in the world) and in the meantime, I am currently looking for an E30 318iS to compensate :D,

Ryan, do you remember when i politely told you that i hated the color of the wheels when they were all gunmetal??

I never noticed till now, that you FINALLY did the outer lips in silver. It COMPLETELY changes the look of your car.

I love it. the full gunmetal almost made your car look, for lack of a better word, lazy. Now it looks racey and ready to go.

          Lovin it!

Lachssilber and smoked tail's

              Best color IMO.

Nice looking ///M, I love how you matched your valve cover to your wheels.

Absolutely the nicest M3 ever (Minus that one in a bubble, but that's a museum piece that can't enjoy a nice road... :) ).

Got a few questions though. What on earth is that in your interior hanging from your drivers side door, near the mirror adjusting buttons? And the receiver?

Anyways, looks great and I can't wait to see what's next! And I agree on your idea to make the bumpers flush, sticks out and looks real good.
                Reminiscing...

you still interested in being an Mwerks Feature Car?
I could essentially just use what you wrote and add a bit more content to it to fill out a full Mwerks article.

Awesome example of an M3 Ryan, but why did you debadge the trunk? I think M3's should always have their badge.

Inspar8r, the wheel are not gunmetal. They were powdercoated a dark silver/gray.

Ryan, that is a great story. :D Car is looking great. We should meet up if you can over winter break.

yeah..sorry..there are a few private inports..but they are expensive as hell(if they ever come up for sale), and parts would be a biatch too.
