A couple cell phone pics of my second e30

    More pictures up

    ^ Mad rake!

M-Tech wheel I got the seller to switch off of his track car.

Even though they're just comfort seats I'm really happy with the interior. No rips, no super messed up carpet. This is the worst wear on any of the seats/panels.

The bad...that one door and the hatch have body fill slapped on them. I might some day have a hatch shipped over to replace it but right now this is what makes me feel ok about driving it all winter.

I'm honestly not stoked on the RHD but at least I can say fairly confidently it's the only car like it in the province. It's got some rough spots for sure but for the price I paid I couldn't pass it up. I've got service records back to when it was new, including having all the brake lines, control arms/bushings, front and rear shocks, etc. changed. I'm planning NOT to modify it at all except for maybe some visual mods (is lip, shift boot, maybe black out the front end?) and drive it daily.

*sigh* yes. Not sure why the guy did that, the hinge is completely removed.

Its far far from perfect, but its going to be my dd. A few quick specs:
          Leather comfort seats
          m40...
          RHD british import
          Euro smiles
          Stud conversion
          Suspension completely redone when imported
          Sony cd changer
I also got the seller to change the stock 3 spoke wheel out for an MiTech 1 in the deal
For the price I paid, I'm happy.

Take that m40 out and burn it. It's the best you can do with it. In the meantime put a m42 in it.

As long as the m40 keeps ticking along it'll be staying there. If it craps out on me then something much bigger and better will be going in, screw swapping to an m42. It would get either an m52 or an m60 for it. I really hope to not have to do anything to it except change the oil and a tune up, though.

Similar engines, m40 is SOHC. Came in Euro 318i, Euro 318is got m42. all NA late model 318s got the m42.

The m40 is a ticking bomb, lots of valvetrain problems, hydraulic lifters go bad very soon, and timing belt is a pain in the ass. You should change it every 40 000 k KILOMETERS, otherwise it will snap and fuck your engine big time.

                        ask me how i know

@ Cabriolet: They are quite diferent engines, only similarity is on the block. It's one of the worst e30 engines ever. It came in 316i's and 318i's. Even carburated non i 316's are better

According to the stack of receipts and documents that came with it, a ship.

Basically a well-off British E30 enthusiast that moved to NS. The car was only brought over less than 2 years ago. He just bought two new vehicles and in addition to his 4 e30s and 3 MG's so he said it was time to make some room. I scooped this up a a very reasonable price in my opinion and I can't wait to actually bring the car home and drive it.

Now I'm concerned about the M40...how hard is a timing belt job? I need this to get me through until at least April when I can have my other 318 24v swap done. :?

So far aside from a couple visual interior/exterior mods I have no plans for it but I'm not sure if I like the steelies or the extra set of bottlecaps I have better...

i love the look of steelies these days. too bad those aren't wider or just poke more. then they'd look hot. i mean, they look like they're even already body matched and all.
