On a side note, are you going to power windows soon? I would love to go to crank.

Man, you're a magnet for this kind of stuff! I'm sure some good bodywork and paint will make that good as new, but what a friggin hassle!

I have looked into converting to power as I had all the parts on hand from my 2nd e30 but decided against it due to wiring.

Now, can someone confirm if the actual doors are different between early and late model cars?

I will of course transfer the glass/panels/trim, but looking on realoem it appears that there are more than one part number for the 2door front

                  41518106931 vs 41511965017 ?

What was the difference? I know that on the early cars the electrical plug does not unplug like it does on the late model, but that's not exacly the difference between the door itself?

late doors have a different style of window regulators, so i am assuming the mounting points for the regulators are in different places

But people convert late model cars to early manual glass/regulators with no problems?

                                Late model door :

                                late model door hinges:

My early / manual glass door

Late model door with power glass/actuator removed

Cutting down the late model door inner window guides

                                Early style door hinges

I was thinking about driving it this way, but it was starting to rain lol

                                Late model door harness, removed

Early chassis door harness, not removable from the chassis like it is on the late models...just re-wrapped it before fishing it inside the late model door

                                All done
