    89' Cabby

Hey guys, finally picked up a cabrio. I've been lurking here for quite a while and finally got an e30 of my own. I intend to SLOWLY (poor college kid) restore this car to pristine condition. I initially wanted an all original 89 with diving boards, but when I saw this come up, I had to snatch it up. My time here has revealed that everyone finds plastics more desirable anyhow. I should also mention that the odometer doesn't work so i have no idea what the true mileage is on the chassis. Neither does the PO. The AC is out, and the front seats are beat. Apart from that everything else seems just fine. In order of priority, what do you think I ought to tackle first? Constructive criticism welcomed!

As far as what to tackle first... If there is anything that is worn out or is need of being replaced I would go with that... You say everything except seats and AC are good though, so the first thing I would personally do is suspension. But I'm sure others wil chime in.

I really like how the plastic bumpers work out on the early model so well. lower it more and get a real lip and you're set!

The front of the car definitely needs major attention. That Volvo is needs to go in the trash since it looks horrible on that car (Sorry, but it needs to be said). Give that front valence & side skirts a nice paint job, and you'll be on the right track.

The car looks fantastic from the back, but it all goes downhill from there.

                      to reiterate:

#1 take that volvo front lip off, smash it, burn it, take a shit in the ashes, then dispose. get an OEM one.

Sice you don't know what the mileage is, the FIRST thing you should do is replace the Timing Belt and Water Pump, assuming its a M20.
Then supension. Bilstein Sports and Lowering/Sport springs of your choice would be a good starting point. While you are under there doing those, you can take a good look at all the bushings bearings and whatnot and figure out what needs to be sorted in that department.
Only after these two things would I even concider anything cosmetic. But that volvo lip does have to go...
