    My procrastination thread. 1991 325i

EDIT: Stuff starts happening around page 4

Picked up a 325i the other day, figured it'd be smart to join a forum for my new daily driver that i'm trying to resist upgrading . . . yet.

Bought this off of a fellow rx7 club member for $1000, doesn't look the best yet but it runs strong. This my first automatic car and also my first with a piston engine, as my first 5 car have been RX-7s lol. Supposedly he said it's a 325iS but I'm not sure if it's an actual "S" model yet.

Cheap Motegi wheels, some sort of lowering springs (haven't checked the make yet) Seems to have been repainted at some point and needs to be again, I'm thinking satin black. Interior has seen better days and will again. As of right now, this is my daily driver. I had to buy a daily because I blew a coolant seal in the rx7 due to the thermostat sticking shut, so it's time for a rebuild. Once the other car is back up and running i'll manual swap this one and turbo it. Probably throw a Holset on it :)

    oh here's the other car . . .

lets just say the mods list is extensive. The pics are kinda old and at different times lol

Man, I fucking LOVE FD's, there's a red wingless one here in town, and as far as I know, it's the only one in this area of the state. The guy that owns it is a fucking DOUCHE, though.

That's my absolute favorite Mazda model Evar!

As for the E30, looks ok for a respray. FYI, what differentiates an iS from a normal 325i is the combonation of Sport Seats, 14" Weaves, and an LSD (in the case of your Automatic, it should be a 4.10S)

lol thanks guys yes its the RB dual tip, best sounding exhaust for the car IMO, car is wingless now but have to get rid of spoiler holes. I honestly didn't know if BMW guys where usually into 7's or not lol but yeah my FD is my baby, I wanted one forever and I had been daily driving it for about 8 months before the very sad thermostat failure 2 weeks ago. Pretty depressing stuff but you have to expect it driving an RX7. That's where the 325 comes in. I have a RWD daily with tons of potential for fun and equally unique styling, I couldn't be happier.

I have the sport seats (ripped to hell) dunno what "14" weaves" means yet and I haven't checked for the LSD, dunno how to on an automatic car. On my old FC rx7 all you had to do was jack it up and turn the back wheel and you could tell it was LSD if the other tire turned the same way instead of opposite like an open diff. Is there an identifying mark or vin code or something?

yeah gunna be hard to resist but its gunna have wait, I already purchased one Holset H1E for the RX and i'm saying its highly likely one will also make its way into that nice open space under the hood of the E30 where a turbo is meant to go

There are two ways to determine an LSD externally. There should be a tag on the diff case that says somethign to the effect of S410 or 410S. Furthermore there should be a large white-painted S on the case although thse are often worn off.

14" Weaves refer to the BBS/Lemmers 14x6" Weave-Style wheels that came standard in the iS models and were optional on other E30's:

intakes are off in the above picture, was fabricating a better intercooler duct.

Cool thanks for the tip! I'll check on the diff when I change the oil and do my inspection.
