My New "Winter Beater" E21 Content

I have recently been snooping around in E21 territory and lo and behold, a very nice example popped up for sale locally. So I made an awesome deal with the seller (original owner ) and drove her home. Bought it for $600 from a very nice woman who kept the interior very clean, she was so excited to sell it to me after hearing that I am such an "enthusiast" haha.

The second I got in the car I was impressed. I just love how the interior is laid out! And pretty much everything still works, which is a miracle.

    Specs:
    -1981 320i clean title
    -Auto trans :(
-127k on odo, which appears to be still working :D
    -Alpine paint in decent shape
-Original Blaupunkt cassette radio, that works great haha
-Original wheels with brand new tires, and never mounted spare in the trunk
-Complete factory owners manual/handbook etc. in glove box
-Full tool kit on trunk lid

Good stuff indeed, I am super excited. The plans for now are to do a thorough detail, inside and out, and see what I can get the paint to look like. Also scrape out all the moss from the cracks and repaint all the black trim.

    List of things to do:
    -Clean nooks and crannies
    -Repaint black trim
-Replace smashed up chrome kidney grille
-Deep clean wheels, hopefully get them back to nice looking aluminum
-Full tune up, at least ignition for now
    -Fix instrument panel lighting.
-Replace cracked taillight (anyone have one or a set for sale?)
-Clean out trunk and check for leaks

Probably going to dump it on coils eventually haha. I am in love with this car and I haven't even cleaned it up yet

Nice dude. E21's do indeed have one of the most well positioned driver seats I've ever sat in. Everything is right where it should be. It kinda sucks that e30's aren't as well laid out.

Get to work cleaning her up!

My first BMW drive was an e21. That m10 auto combo has got to be painfully slow. Great price for a well kept car

^^ This. You need eurobumpers. US bumpers are so ugly, there's no word for it.

E21's rock tho. Looks like a good purchase

nice score! I always thought e21s looked pretty cool. Beware that rust around the taillights though.

The bumpers are heinous, and it is very slow haha. I can't wait to start washing her up but my hose is frozen right now... The lady I bought it from lived in downtown Portland, so it has been parked on the street for a good deal of its life. Fortunately it somehow survived city life and isn't all smashed up or keyed

Looking at a e21 myself here but of course....not at 600.00.

Get to cleaning. Fix that rust. Enjoy!!

That car reminds me of my dads E21. Car has so much potential. Might be picking one up in the future. Love how they look dropped and running deep dishes. Too bad the original 3 doesnt get more love.

Looks good. Maybe you can give me some motivation to actually make progress on mine. Which is also a Alpine on blue cloth specimen.
