When I first drove the car I had no traffic driving. However, my daily commute on the wonderful 405 freeway involves 5-30 mph for 15 miles each way in traffic. This usually takes 20-40 minutes each way depending on speeds.
This so far has turned into 3x the gas bill of my white e30. That doesn't make it worth it for me to keep this car. I already have a huge project in my M3, and I need to stop spending money on car projects.
As far as repairs are concerned, the motor mounts, tranny mounts, diff mount, valve cover gasket, valve adjustment, air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, front and rear brakes have all been replaced. This is preventative maintenance to make a reliable daily driver.
I will still be changing the upper and lower control arm busings, as well as the rear sub frame bushings before the car sells.
The coil-overs will be used on Chris Castro's wagon instead, so I get my money back there. All other parts mentioned, which I already have can be sold/used on other cars. ;)
I guess I'm just spoiled by the gas mileage I was able to get with my e30. Spending $30 ever 4 days, vs. $30 for almost 2 weeks is pretty bad. This car is awesome, but not practical for my daily commute. :(

i don't get the logic behind selling a car for that reason.
you're okay dumping a fair amount of money into it for repairs, modifications, but an extra $70 a month in gas, and it's gone.
doesn't make sense to me, but perhaps i don't know the full story.Leave a comment:

So this car is starting to guzzle too much gas to be my DD. I love the car, and have big plans for it, but I think i might just do the rest of the maintenance on the suspension and sell the shark. :(Leave a comment:

It will handle considerably better with the coil-overs and the poly bushings. ;)
The M3 will be my go-kart, this is my cruiser. :p
Need the M3 running before this bitch gets turbo'd! :hitler:Leave a comment:

Decided that I will leave the 18" Alpinas for my M3. So instead we're running the classier looking RZ 412! :pimp:
(sorry again for the crappy cell phone pic)

Soon to come:
Finish front bumper tuck, by using double back tape (and screws if necessary) to reattach rubber trim to bumper
Front and rear bumper side-marker deletes
Clear euro smilies
All red tailights (I will also be blacking out the chrome surrounds)
Rear bumper tuck
Respray front valence
Tint the windows 35% all around
Paint all trim, front grilles and bumper surrounds with fresh trim paint
Clay, wax and buff the paint
Get lower profile, stickier 245/40 tires to replace the worn out 235/45s
Put in different steering wheel
Install short shifter
Purchase and install Miller MAF kit with chip (for now)
Install the FK coilovers and stance it properly ;)
Install Polyurethane CABs with new control arms
Install Polyurethane rear subframe and trailing arm bushings
Get spacers for flush fitment, and roll the fenders accordingly
Put a radio in it, and a decent system for now
