    my new-to-me delphin e30 (former r3v car!)

picked her up in the waning days of 2010, and i'm quite pleased! i had entered the market just earlier in mid-december. put out a couple of WTBs, and two weeks later, i was in a delphin 1989 325i. awesome.

this couldn't have been possible without a number of people in the community, so i wanted to thank (in no particular order):

    - the OPPO (mikek, the owner prior to the previous owner), for doing a nice job of modding this car! made it pretty easy for me picking between this and a couple of other cars that were also on the market. in the end, it wasn't much of a choice
    - the PO (the other mikek) for selling it to me
    - levent, kish, and anthony for keeping an eye out, getting me psyched about getting into an e30, and patiently answering my n00b questions

looking forward to learning from you all, meeting some locals in the tristate, and enjoying the camaraderie of e30 ownership!

enough chit chat -- onto pics:

cca sticker applied by the PO (i think) -- haven't decided yet whether or not to keep it. for now it stays.

aside from removing the front plate (the car is way too pretty for one -- i've decided to throw caution to the wind and risk it), have made no changes since taking delivery. that will change in time.

i hope to have more pics to whore over the course of the year, so expect to see more of this car as the year goes :D

i didn't say it in a way to bash the guy. I was curious because usually people do have swap/turbo etc. when you see bars...

and yes i have heard of cars flipping over

Looks great. Is that a bolt-in bar or a weld-in one? Any more pics/info on it?

thank you! just to clarify, the mods are from the previous owner(s), including the bolt-in roll bar. i believe it's this bar, although someone who knows this car's history better than i do can correct me:

so to answer a couple questions here, why run a roll bar? i think one of the main reasons is to safely use racing harnesses (for driver schools, not racing; the harnesses attach to the bar); running harnesses without a bar is considered to be dangerous by many (though not all). another is to stiffen the chassis and reduce flex; yet another is for rollover protection (although i imagine this is lower on the list of priorities; it's a bar, not a cage).

i dig the bar but also wouldn't mind having back seats (the car has none to accommodate the bar). i plan on keeping it.

no swap or turbo; stock m20b25 with the exception of a chip, as far as i know/can tell.

Yes, it's a VSR rollbar. I installed it last year for one of the POs. It is a very clean car underneath with nearly every suspension wear part replaced last year. It has new rear wheel bearings even though the rear backing plates look ugly.
