if you are painting the chrome. sand it first and use an etcher so the paint will stick or the car will be ugly in 6 months be that paint will come off the kidneys and bumpers.

Plasti-dip worked really well for me with the only prep being to clean it pretty good (okay, not even really all that good)

Looked better chrome IMO, especially since the front end is totally stock...

Blacked out kidneys just make the front end of a poor condition car look even worse.
