4300 doesnt shock me at all. Ive got more than that into my e30s new engine alone. Not to mention the purchase price of the car and repairs on it. Shit adds up quick. I think about it like this, if Im going to spend a small portion (an hour or two) of everyday in my car I would rather it put a smile on my face and a dent in my wallet, than me hating every minute of those couple hours.

Ugh. For the past 4-5 years I've kept a spreadsheet for my convertible, it's bad. Yeah it's been featured in mags and had won shows, but we're talking brand-new BMW money. Sickening.
I started a spreadsheet for my M3 immediately. I've owned it less than 4 months and am already in over $2k in parts, I DIY everything so that's no labor. Even so, I'm projecting I'll still be under the $15k rule (unless the motor blows, LOL wallet failure).Comment

Thanks. I know its not that much comparatively. It probably could be figured as a function of ownership time. I've spent way more on my M3, but I've had it closer to 3 years now. The $4300 just was a bit of a shock because it hasn't felt like that much. I've always been happy knowing I only spend the original $800 on the car itself. I just always imagined that I was still ahead financially if I were to sell the car... but apparently that was pasted long ago. No worries though because I know its not about resale value. I'll probably give the eta to my girl friend when even ever I buy another E30.
