Window lock

does anyone have thoughts on the passenger-side placement of those window lock buttons?

why would they make such a function more accessible to a passenger?

On my 325is the lock button is on the HVAC panel. On my Eta the Lock button is also on the HVAC panel but the rear window lock is on the center consol.
