Wow, I i've never liked any 5 series other than the e39 M5, but that car is simply stunning. Love the taillights/trunk spoiler.

Thanks guys, I bought the car from Chris Graff, who is a pretty big E28 enthusiast out of NJ.
The plan was to drive it from NJ to Texas in February when I PCS'd from Germany. Our MINI was comming into port in NJ from Germany, so this worked out perfect... I'd drive the E28, and my wife would drive the MINI.
Unfortunetly in St. Louis the M5 was t-boned by a toyota Yaris5 days after I bought the car
Lucky timing and better crumple zone engineering meant that the wheel and the yaris took most of the damage. Beyond a replaced strut and fender, there was no structural damage.
I flew up Friday and picked the car up from the repair shop and finished the leg that I was planning on completing in early February. Having the repair work done long distance means that the job was not done to my satisfaction, but it's nothing that the insurance company and I cannot work out.
As you can read by my cheesy little blog, this car was very very high up on my dream car list, and I couldn't have bought a better car, it truley is better than it looks!
With being in Afghanistan, I have lots and lots of time sometimes to sit in a truck and ponder what I'd rather be sitting in. So i've compil...
as for the wheel gap, I was slightly bummed about it in the front. I think a 255/35/18 all around would look downright dirty, but I think I'll settle for a spacer on the front to poke it out a little bit. I am happy to not have any rubbing, scrapping, jarring, crashing, or worrying.
