    Hey All,

Well after my recent divorce and a general want to be in a much better place financially for my kids I decided to sell my 2008 335i E90. Tough, tough decision as I was able to squeak by every month with the house, car, bills and so on. I finally decided to get something I could pay cash for and fix as needed. I'm a pretty good mechanic and I can fix just about anything so getting an older car isn't really a big deal for me. I also have all the tools I need to do any job minus an engine hoist.

After looking around at a few E36 M3's doing the math in my head about how much I really wanted to spend in repairs and upkeep I actually lucked out. I found a 1987 325iS. This thing is relatively unmolested and about 95% rust free.

My initial plans are to change out the water pump, timing belt, radiator, valve cover gasket, intake vacuum lines, flush the brakes (pad and rotors look ok for now), get the carpets/upholstery cleaned, replace the seats with sport seats or adequate replacements...basically get the car into DD mode so I can pay stuff off. The guy I bought I from has its clone with a full engine/tranny and interior that he said I could get parts from as needed for free (!).

I will REALLY miss the power of my 335i, but you never know in a few years how things will turn out. After things pan out I'll make this into a track car or do a full resto to it. Any way here are the pictures.

Picked up the car for $1500 and I have already found $3 in change cleaning it out so $1497 total so far (haha). It runs very strong, although the yahoo that had it put in the wrong radiator so the power steering pulley is not installed. No power steering is no fun, but that will be remedied soon.

If you guys have any tips or pointers let me know.I think I'm going to be headed in the right direction.

Already order the boot and odometer gears from ebay. Should be here soon. That boot literally disintegrated in my hands while I was cleaning up this weekend.

            -Thanks!

Are you sure it's the wrong radiator? What makes you think it is?

Well...The power steering pump comes out and has no pulley on it. Right now the lower radiator hose would hit that pulley if it was installed. I think the right radiator should have the lower inlet down and to the left (back of the car facing forward) a bit so the pulley and power steering belt could fit. I'll take a really good second look but it looks like the radiator is mounted the right way in the right holes. It would be funny if it wasn't. My other concern is that I have NO idea when it was changed. I guess I could flush it after the timing/water pump refresh and see how it goes.

Seats are in the works, should be this weekend. I'll need to get seat covers for them but that won't be an issue in the short term.

I would take a look at your motor mounts as well. When they go bad the motor tends to sag causing the ps pulley to rub on the lower hose.

Yup it was on Jax CL. They guy wanted 2500 for it originally. I passed at first as there were other cars in the area in better condition for the same price. He called me back telling me he was lowering it to $2k, I offered him $1500 and he took it. Good guy. I'm looking forward to daily driving the car.
