If you can get a built and running 2.8 stroker for $1500 it's definitely worth it. The parts needed to build the motor are worth more than that.

My friend is putting together a 2.8 stroker that im looking at. I have a 318i, so i would assume it would be a noticeable difference haha

Is it worth it? Say if the engine is $1500 plus another 500 for a Getrag 260 i bet

Hi mate, I also have an M20B31 in the old girl..

Any idea about power? I'm sitting on around 184kw at the wheels and around 214nm of torque. But that is with 288 cam and a bit more work done.

Idle is lumpy as hell and I need a tune!! Comp ratio is almost 12 hahahaha.

Thanks! It's been running strong for 2500kms now, minus a fuel pump failure and a corrupted ECU. New pictures from last night:

Started with an M20B25 from an '89 325i:

Off comes the top half and into the solvent tank:

Degrease (x4) and pressure wash repeatedly:

    Thoroughly dry off outside:

Pull the old head off (shame, it's in fantastic shape):

Install the new one (replacing the exhaust shields soon)

Clean everything up and mess up the HID's in the process:

Done! Took about 6 hours total but the whole thing went quite smoothly. The difference in power is immediately noticeable, it still has the exact same great low-end torque the ETA is known for but with the hard pulling horsepower the 325i offers. It's really the best of both worlds which is exactly what I was hoping for.

So there you have it, r3vlimiteds newest 327i.
