Not necessarily. My '91 vert has small tails. (production date is 9/'90 I think) I was skeptical before I bought it but apparently some verts were still produced with small tails up to '91.

how early does your model have to be for you to post?

Usually early model means diving board cars, which iirc is 88 and earlier. Not sure what that translates to for you being in Australia, I don't know if you guys got the diving boards or euro bumpers.
