May finally be making the jump from E36 0 to an E30...

Checking out a red 2dr E30 325 next week that I may be trading for my car. Probably/hopefully with cash on top on his end. If I do, I'll be purchasing an S52 from a friend and swapping that over into the car. From the pics i've seen and what i've heard the car is mint and has a perfect interior. Black sport seats interior.

Anyhoo, here are a couple of pictures the owner has sent me. If anyone knows this guy/car I'd appreciate some input or thoughts on the car.

Does the kid come in the deal? If so, I'd back away. I already owe child support from my middle school days.

What gives it away that it may have been resprayed?

The paint is "shiny", the 325 is in the wrong spot, the rockers are not black, the bottom of the rear arpon isnt black, and i cant tell fron the crappy pictures but it looks like something is up with the right rear corner where they like to rust. but with the picture you cant really tell much till you look at it in person.

The plastics look a slightly different shade to the metals. That said, a re-paint isn't necessarily a bad thing, just try to check it out in person in bright sunlight to see how well it has been done.

Other than that, it looks nice. Not really feeling the black front valance (would look better in the original red) and not totally feeling the chrome wheels (would look better plain silver), but those are easy fixes. It's the underside, jacking points, scuttle panels and arches you really need to examine, especially with a NY car. You don't tend to buy these cars purely on looks/mods, it's more a case of simply finding one with as little rust as possible, and that includes suspension and exhaust setup etc.

Gotcha, thanks for the pointers guys.

I talked to someone who's sent he car and possibly knows it. He said it has in fact been resprayed and sits on basketweaves now too.

These are old pictures so hopefully it's got one by now.

Off-Topic question: Can an E36 exhaust be bolted up to the E30 chassis? I plan on swapping in an S52 a friend is selling if I do get the car but want to know if I can switch my current exhaust on my e36 over to this car in the meantime before the swap.
