The warranty will not help you if Chrysler thinks you abused the car. If you get into any mad expensive repairs, the dealer won't have the say-so on the repairs, a Chrysler rep. will and you may be in for a fight.

Car payments are also a good reason not to go this route. I made my last car payment in 2000 and swore that every car I bought thereafter would be with cash. For my IS300 and the wife's Sienna, that meant good condition Certified Pre-Owned cars that we haggled down to low prices. The fun cars are cheap enough to be disposable. If I crack up the 325ic or the 325es, no great losses there. Money wise, that is.

Who the fuck cares what people think about what car you drive? You're all pussies.

      SRT4 > 99.9% E30s

Of course, our friend here will probably just wrap it around a tree racing an "STi" (shoutouts to Rob on that one, he knows the deal).

        I saw a stock 2004 240hp Honda Accord Coupe 6-speed beating a whole crew of these SRT-4s...

It was pretty entertaining and funny because there was a whole crew/team of SRT-4s that kept getting beat by this stock Accord.
Of course this was straight line racing.

When they drove around it sounded like the cars where sneezing and didn't sound too powerful or nice.

I think an SRT4 would serve it up to a new Accord, and around a racetrack the Honda can forget it

              SRT4 > 99.9% E30s
Not to pick on you but I think he cares what car he drives, otherwise he wouldn't have posted on a topic before comparing the SRT vs the M3... or posting this topic of his new purchase....

Your comment about SRT4 > 99.9% E30s is very broad..... ofcourse we can argue all day long about which is better and which is not or which is faster or which is slower... but way to compare a (almost) 20 year old car to a brand new one...

              Rob,

I think a lot of the FWDs haters haven't driven a FWD car on the track and only believe that it will understeer (which is prone to FWD cars...and RWD will oversteer).... ofcourse you already know this information....

                Welcome back Rob.

Amazing how many guys are talking up the neon - I was expecting a lot more trash talk.

I disagree that the srt4 > 99.9% of e30's...I really don't think they're that great. They're cheap fun and fast - but FWD will never be RWD, and it's a cheaply made car - it's not designed as well as a BMW, nor are the parts as high a quality.

I've driven a few, they're cool cars. If I needed a fast daily driver, that's what I'd buy - but my daily is a BMW, and I've got Jeeps and Hondas for the winter.

                Congrats on the buaaaaa tsss.

Congrats on the new car. Make sure you keep your payments on time and enjoy the nice boost on your credit. That's the one thing that people who always espouse buying cars with cash and such seem to forget - having no credit is as bad or worse than having bad credit.

The SRT4 is a wicked little car, be careful with it. It's FWD, but it will still snap on you if you get stupid with it. That 215 hp motor is severely underrated from the factory. I'm curious how the front transaxle and clutch are going to hold up on those cars, that's the biggest weak link I could see, other than that, it's a typical american car, nothing horrible but obviously not on par with 50k german cars like some people expect.

Other than real brake pads and camber plates which it sorely needs, it's a real fun car right out of the box.

                        jay- ;)

everyone else- i've been a proponent of pretty much any fwd car that comes with a LSD from the factory. The fact the SRT is already a big motor, and boosted, and comes with sticky tires for ~$20k is just icing.

yet you traded your faster FWD car for a slow RWD one.

or you could look at the fact I went from a $20k car to a $4k car

There's a shock to all of us.

Charlie is cleverly pointing out that you don't have to put someone or something down to voice your opinion on it. You make yourself sound like an idiot with a flat comment like the one you made. There is nothing plain and simple about the SRT-4. It has more stock horsepower than any stock E30, factory LSD, a turbo system that's easily modified to produce even more power, and it's all packaged into an extremely affordable, easily financed, warrantied bundle. Though I could probably never own one myself - there are far too many BMW's that I'd rather have instead, especially for that kind of dough, but they don't have warranties and aren't nearly as practical - I can certainly understand and encourage others who find them attractive to buy them.

Cheap horsepower is the American dream. The Neon, though not your traditional hot rod, provides more than enough horsepower - and fun - per dollar.

Oh, and if you don't think that I or anyone else is right about the car - go read any car magazine - haven't found one yet that doesn't like or at the very least respect it.
