overall for the price and ease of install/set up..the HR race and koni's are a good package. The GC coil overs I am sure are better for track work but for a coupla years this set up is fine. The 4.10 helps too......I am not sure if my diff is noisy or the poly stuff from IE and powerflex make a bit of noise but car is mainly for track so its cool. I like the gearbox and clutch way better than my 99 Z3 coupe.....and car is very neutral........the 2.5 is a bit down on power on bigger tracks but Ill live w/ it for now....maybe an s50 or 52 one day......
I love sitting down and just driving!

        cool.

a friend had good luck with his similar setup, only with bsports. and GC only really makes a difference when you up the rates or are using them to determine balance, and corner weighting it.

My car is very very noisy, did you use redline fluids as well??

diff was put in by a racer's shop. I think he used Mobil 1 for lsd.....he wouldnt use RL.......tranny is oe for now....may try royal purple.......many like it. I would like the GC set up w/ rates like 500/700 ish...the HR at 300/500 ish are a bit soft but good overall. Also the GC set up will allow lower frt ride ht..... I am a bit hi w/ RRT camber plates......but like I said.........overall its a good package and Im likin it. Hitting bumps on way to track can shake ya up a bit.

extremely. radio off. windows up..... i can barely hold a phone conversation sometimes. it's more of a whistle when the throttle is on. Maybe it is a noisy diff, but it may be everything together:

RTRS subframe and TA bushings, M coupe diff bushing, Redline fluid in the diff and tranny, urethane motor mounts, delrin shift carrier bushing (great upgrade), bimmerworld upgraded tranny mounts...... etc etc

H&R race / IE stage IIIs are a nice setup because you just put them in and use them, not having to worry about anything else. Konis are a bit better I read, but bsports are spec for NASA, so that possibility is always nice. My rates are only 300/475, so it's not much of a advantage right now.....but if I swap the rear to the front and get 650s for the back, it'd be serious then.

Nice pics, how was it in the rain? I have problems with the rear of the car stepping out sometimes when exiting a turn, rain would be fun...

I was very concerned w/ the shaved r tires and all......but I drove ez...even on the hi banks I never cleared 80 ish........especially after my buddies 968 did a 360 and almost stuffing it in wall......there were too many wet spots, puddles............I was braking hard and hitting apexes hard......car was amazingly stable and when it did step out it caught itself.

your s 50( 240 hp obd1 ?)prolly steps out way easier than my m20. Could you tell me how messy that conversion is?...I may have a lead on the 240 hp obd1 M 3 engine( s 50?)......what can I expect to pay someone to do it?......I wont be able to tackle such a job.....tia

                            around here, m/s50 labor is about $3K, $2k for parts and M50 engine. I dunno.....add another 3-4K for a S50 I guess?

are you saying 3k(labor) plus 2k(engine/parts) totalling 5k?. Would your numbers incl a trans?...... what do people do w/ exhausts?......fab up an exhaust after the ex. manifold?......I should search around the board to get familiar w/ this.

yes. i believe the local independent shop offers turnkey swap for $5k total about. I'm not sure on everything else. Just check the M50 swap section there's a million threads.

                                edit, one:

I don't have the final bill yet - but it is going to be around 7-8k....

From my point of view (old guy with no time) it's worth it to me to have someone do the swap and I drive away....
