The car has been re-painted, rear bumper alignment seems a little off, new front valance, no hood insulation/lining thing, different seats, no kick panel, new fenders(if those vents are actually built in), hot air intake, etc.....
Its been modded in a cheap way, body work has been done, interior swapped.... Seems to me like this car has been wrecked. Maybe the motor 'rebuild' was due to a snapped timing belt? (130k is 2nd timing belt interval plus 10k), maybe after a wreck? Eitherway, it seems as though the car has been trough a lot. If i were you id buy a more stock cleaner E30 with better history. just my .02
I know your excited to buy a new car, and ive been there before too. I sold my e46 330i ZHP with 45k miles on it to buy something cheaper....I bought a B5 Stage 3++ S4 with 100k on the clock for $16500, yes it was cheaper, but at the same time it was a ticking time bomb pushing 29llbs of boost on a stock block. My point is, its easy to overlook the bad or concerning factors of a new car when you let your emotions and impatience get the best of you. Yea, my S4 was the most badass fastest car I've ever owned or riden in, but I sold it 4 months later because i knew it would blow up eventually and i didnt want the headache.

Do NOT give him more than $3k.
The front bumper, side skirts, and fenders need to be replaced.
Those wheels are not anything to be bragging about either.
Do not let him the seller make you beleive it is something special.
Show him that you know your shit, talk him down, buy it, fix it up.
Looks like a really clean car otherwise.

I think that car belonged to this guy. Check all the threads he started for some history on the car.
I'm not positive it's the same car, this is the only pic I could find.
Maybe it's not, I dunno. Compare.

Avoid. Spend money on hookers and blow.
In all seriousness look on r3v, e30tech, craigslist, and find yourself a cleaner and well maintained examplesigpicComment

You can have mine for $3800. BAM!
I agree with what everyone here has said. I went down this path of buying my first e30 with tasteless mods. Needless to say, I sold it shortly after to find a cleaner example. There is a market for this style of car out there, but it's most likely not in our circle of enthusiasts.Comment

I'd be willing to look at anyone's clean e30 in here but you gotta be located in ca and ready to sell like now. I'm kind of in a rush to sell my e30 and buy a new one. My friend totaled his brothers e30 and wants to replace it with mine. So I'm trying to help I'm out and myself.Comment
