Someone backed into me (Hit & Run pics)

    The car is already fixed

    Quick Facts:
-Happened about three weeks ago and took almost two weeks to get it back
-Car already fixed, pics coming later today or tomorrow
-Hit & Run originally, perpetrator later came back and left note
-Happened on first day of a job that I quit three days later
-Total cost of repairs (paid by his insurance) $1850
-All told I got: new low beam, new high beam, new grill, new bucket, new bumper trim piece, hood R&R, BOTH fenders R&R, valence, lip, driver door painted, kidneys R&R

This is what I found when I came out for my lunch break:

Same thought I had, but the car is already fixed and both had to be replaced as he destroyed the mounting tabs on the bucket and lights.

Came out to no note, called the police to file a hit & run report. Came back from lunch to find the note, and when he came the next day to exchange info I had a cop waiting with me to show I wasn't fucking around.

Glad it worked out for you. I probably would have taken the money and gotten junkyard parts.

What was the job, out of curiosity?

Long story short, I wanted it fixed and the metal damage was so bad the hood couldn't even be opened. I used their repair network, got a rental for almost two weeks while my car was in there, and didn't have to fill out one piece of paperwork myself. It was very convenient and not stressful, AND they painted/fixed the ENTIRE front end which was clearly not necessary as you can see in the pictures.

My mindset was that I was lucky enough that he came back at all, I wasn't going to try to profit or gain from the situation, just wanted the car back to pre-accident. The good karma paid off immediately as they fixed all that other shit while they were at it. All I need is three doors, the roof, and a quarter sprayed and my entire car will have new paint. I'm happy.

Same thing happened to me earlier this year. I took the money from the insurance company and bought everything myself and installed it all. Bought some upgrades with the rest of the money.

If it were me, i would fix it myself like the rest here, for $500 and use the rest to do a 5-Lug swap. He He....

I would have fixed it myself, but I don't blame you for wanting a really nice job done on the repair. I'll bet it looks better than new now, pics?
Btw, why the hell did you need a new valence, lip, and grills? And not a new bumper..
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

I quit the job because I hated it. I don't do things I don't want to do if I can possibly not to.

The valence and lip were already brand new before the accident. I repainted one grill and the other needed to be replaced. They elected to paint the lip and valence again, as well as my passenger fender and driver door, don't ask me why but I'm not complaining.

If you guys can fix sheet metal and pull dents in your garage and then move it to your spray booth, then wet sand it to a body shop level of fit and finish, then power to you. I can't.

I'll grab some pictures of the repair tomorrow morning.

Thanks! I think black and white are the only colors that work well in that application.

x2 to the point that sometimes i write down the LP number of cars around me with color and model. and my cars not even that clean.

to the OP, good job getting it all fixed up nice and no hassle is definitely the way to go sometimes.
