Subwoofer in the trunk that some wanna be baller installed and needed to cut it for more sound response is more likely.

Car looks like a big project, but a decent place to start. Personally before I rebuilt the eta head I would swap it to an "i" head or just go for a 24 valve swap. Nice pickup for $300.
