Thanks! I wouldn't mind throwing a turbo in the mix a little later down the road too ;)
Looks like you'll need the whole center section/compressor housing and possibly bore the turbine housing 1mm to swap over to a 16g btw: http://www.starquestclub.com/forum/i...post&p=1243230

Woah... yes that would be cool. I wouldn't mind picking your brain about your build. Very nice btw.Leave a comment:

Cool, maybe we'll be able to meet up and swap M42 stories :)^Yep, I'll be here, don't travel too much... but occasionally. Going to take her off the road for a head gasket, motor mounts, high impedance injectors, and some other mods/maintenance in the near future... sounds like a good time to get the new compressor turbine and housing.Leave a comment:

The whole thing is pretty efficient, but I think the compressor side is more efficient. IIRC the compressor is also what makes it a 16G vs your current 12A. BTW, I'll be in SA next April 8) Will you still be there?^16g compressor wheel and inlet housing? Or the whole turbo?
Something like this? Though honestly if I changed turbos I would want to change to something that is externally gated. My internal and wastegate actuator are a constant cause of frustration

You should get a 16g instead. Tuning should def help the spool time. You should be seeing boost earlier me thinks.Leave a comment:

Thanks guys... it's a labor of love, and sometimes hate.
If you look at the graph of my log you can see the spool time by watching the map sensor climb to max boost versus the RPM it's at. Somewhere around 3500-3800rpm I would guess. Could check my log and get exact rpm...
Turbo is a TD05-12A off a Mitsu Starion. It's a tiny little thing which is what I wanted. Boosting earlier was better than max HP in my eyes.Leave a comment:

thanks for the M42 porn. Get the timing unconservative and post more. I'd love to see a boost/tach video to show how quickly the turbo is spooling ;) what snail are you running anyway?Leave a comment:

looks/sounds good!
my Ti would be a whole hell of a lot better with a turbo setup like this on it.Leave a comment:

ooo i didnt know you were on stock head bolts. i think its safe to say your car is dialed. mines ok.. still tweaking on it. i need to update my thread. I can say that its a buttpucker when my car goes on the dyno. it quite satisfying listening to it spool up after all that work though.
I feel like you could be well into the 200 hp range with studs and a fresh hg. that may require a bigger turbo though. the car sounds great. i watched the vids several times hahaLeave a comment:

Thanks, I have plans to do headgasket and studs in the upcoming year. At that point I will feel safe upping the boost to 12 - 14psi.
I'm sure there is more power there. I have a VERY conservative ignition table. Even the dyno operator said as much while I was fooling with it. At 15% drivetrain loss... somewhere around 215bhp at the moment.
Thanks Levent... much appreciated. She takes photos/videos better than she looks in person and is in dire need of a respray. It will happen one day, but not until I can dedicate some garage space just for her. As it stands now she has 3 sisters to share the garage with.
Nothing wrong with a little eta love ;) I daily one to work. It does make this car feel like a rocket though.
22mpg city and 28mpg highway... before the turbo it was 30 city and 38 highway. Still not too bad by todays standards.
Thank you sir, you've helped on it as well. LOL that clutch job was fun eh?
No problem Simon, thanks for the kind words. I enjoy helping the forum since it has helped me so much.
Thanks... let me know if you have any questions.
12-14 psi? I wouldn't want to try it with stock head bolts. Also my tiny turbo would run out of gas pretty quickly trying to move that much air. My afr's were right where they should have been, the operator was very knowledgeable and said I did a pretty good job. He turned the smoothing off on the graphs and he said it is still pretty smooth. My problem was my ignition table... it's pretty darn conservative. How is your turbo coming?
I'm glad to finally have a dyno on the books and will update the next time I go. I have some things that need doing... motor mounts being the priority.Leave a comment:

i think you can run 12-14 easily. not sure what your afr's are tho. awesome progress non the less.Leave a comment:
