    New Member From Socal

whats up guys. my buddy Kevin refereed me to this site. glad to be apart of it.

a little bit about my self, im a Professional Freeride Stand Up Jetskier. I travel the world on tour competing on the world tour and im currently ranked 3rd in the world. i ride in the ocean in the surf and hit waves either like ramps and do tricks like FMX or ride waves like surfers. i live 12 miles from Willow Springs Race way and im trying to move to SD so im closer to Oceanside to practice freeriding more often.

i have a 87 325is 5 speed manual. i got the car from my buddy for a few months rent plus $900 bucks. i really knew nothing about the car until doing research finding that i have a rare/ clean car. i love the car, its a drift machine.

when i acquired the car it had a hunting idle and the fuel pump was going out and was dumping fuel inside the car under the back seat.

the cars paperwork was a complete mess and after a year and a half of BS i finally got it sorted and in my name yesterday.

the car wouldnt pass smog so i changed the rubber intake, got the right air box the hold the Mass Airflow sensor and got the right sensor. now the car runs and idles great. i got a new fuel pump and gasket installed and fixed that.

ive done alot of reading on the car and everything points to maintenance over mods so i plan to get things fixed first.

im not sure when the timing belt was changed so i want to have that done. ive read since your there you might as well do the water pump. i have a squeaky pulley that needs to be addressed.

    i have a few questions

when i get on the freeway the steering wheel shakes a bit until 55+. i read there a nut on the steering somewhere that i can try and tighten?

how much would i be looking at to have the timing belt, water pump, and getting my temp sensor fixed at a shop?

can you put a hitch on this car? i really want to tow my ski with it. my ski is from Germany and so is the car... it just makes sense :)

my rear rims seem to rub on the car when its at an angle. whats up with that?

i have a muffler that came with the car and have no clue what it is. im looking for the car to sound like a 14815, would this muffler be the ticket or should i get the magnaflow?

anything else i should check out? im sure ill have more questions as this goes on... i appreciate any help. heres some pics of the car, the muffler in question, and some pics of me on my ski

    my new ski, from germany.

    Cheers!

Roll your fenders, that should solve your problem with rubbing, [most of the time], dont know how much would cost to change timing belt, etc... but most of the stuff you can do it yourself if you like working with the cars, on forums you can find basically how to take your car apart by each screw and put it back.. hahah

Welcome! That is indeed a clean 87! There are OEM hitches that were sold in Europe for these things and there's a guy in Sun Valley that will weld on a custom hitch. I'd post up in the WTB section for a factory hitch. I'm sure it'd pull a ski just fine but I wouldn't want to go much heavier than that personally.

              Welcome man!

Yes! another fellow from the AV.... Never seen your car around yet man, but hit the California section in the regional thread, we can probably roll to some SFV meets and start something out here. If you know any other buddies with E30's tell them to join. We definitely need to start something out here.

Hit up Vic Jr. from Vic's Bimmer Shop on Trevor and Ave I. Cool dude and quality work without having to drive out to the valley.

Feel free to hit me up with an questions

looked into that. ill for sure have that done in the future when the car gets lowered. i checked the car to see if that was done and noticed the rim seems to be rubbing into the shock? uhhhhh.... do i need a spacer or something?

Nice car and a clean start!

I can do the timing belt & water pump job for you. Drop me a PM and I could possibly even arrange coming up there to you. Let's compare the shop quote vs. what I can do. I also have a tow hitch for a diving board car I can sell you or sell/install for you possibly. You should have no issue towing a single ski around, I tow a trailer with my car.

                        Welcome to R3V.

PS: Once you move to Oceanside talk to my buddy Neil at Oceanside Motorsports. One of the best mechanics around.
