Lol my parents have had this shit since new. We bought it in sweden.
Gas hog..pshh...that's nothing. If you how much my dad has shelled out on it to keep it running..(excluding the ECU tune).. $6k transmission to start with (now going bad again), the Rear driveshaft 's about to go out, axle are all fucked up, and the viscous couplings are also whack. Driving this thing up a steep hill is scary as fuck.

Right on. My dad bought his when it had 95,000 miles with a bad transmission. Set him back about $2,200 to get it fixed & it was never 100% perfect. Other than the transmission, he had to replace the battery & alternator which was another $550. Bought it for $4,500 & sold it 2 years later with 125K miles for $4,800.

At least my parents got some solid use out of it.

          Edit: Here's a pic of my parent's XC70:

Not bad, not bad. Our family's 240 (which was the first car I ever rode in lol) is the most reliable thing in the world. 350k, and it just needed its first clutch job. Literally, you cannot kill the damn thing (knock on wood). Love that car to death.

I have owned 5 240s. They are amazingly resilient to abuse. I sold one to a friend of mine at 300k miles. He put another 75k on it. He didn't change the oil for 25k miles! He gave it to his younger brother who then drove it for another 50k!!! When his kid brother sold it it had 400k+ and was still running well.

So when you took the airintake of, (of your 318is engine), how did intake valves look, still clean and alright?
By the way, whats your mileage on that engine?
