    New Member - Just Purchased '88 325is

I am totally new to the E30 world, and I thought that I should introduce myself.

I've always loved the E30/E36, but I've never actively sought one out. Less than a week ago I stumbled upon a super clean Alpine white 325is in a parking lot with a for sale sign on it. Long story short, here is my new 1988 325is.

It is a two owner car. The seller had the car since 1990. It has 108k original miles, and the car has been cared for very well over the years. 100% stock, all BMW parts. Everything works on the car, with the exception of a burnt out fog light bulb. It will need a timing belt immediately, and I'll be doing a lot of maintenance. Other than that the car is absolutely cherry, and it is a lot of fun to drive.

I would appreciate it if you guys put up with my newbie questions over the next few weeks. I will use the search function as much as possible.

BTW, White is the fastest color

Thanks, I'll put on some more pictures after I clean it up. I may have to include a picture of an uncracked dash.

Why do people prefer the painted plastic bumpers? Are there any advantages other than aesthetics?

Very nice find! The bumper choice is on you. There is no particular advantage either way, but mob rule dictates that Plastic>Aluminum. Fortunately for you, your car will look good either way!

Thanks for the kind words guys. I looking forward to getting this car nicely sorted. I personally like the aluminum bumper, I wouldn't waste money messing with it.

I own another enthusiast car, and parts for the E30 are cheap in comparison!

Other than maintenance, I will likely upgrade the suspension, brake pads, wheels, tires, and spend the rest of my E30 budget on track time.
