    Boosted Vert Project

Been working on my turbo project for multiple months now. Got it running for a few weeks before I decided to give her a little more boost.

    This was the result...

So 17psi was the limit of the stock head gasket with my tuning setup at least. Next up was to pull the head and replace the gasket.

Pulled head/intake manifold/exhaust manifold/wastegate/downpipe all as one, seemed much easier.

Pistons looked great, gasket did not!

    All buttoned up!

After I put her all back together I turned the boost back down to 8psi. Its still tons of fun especially in the rain. Still an ongoing project as this is a pretty cheap/homemade setup. Comments and criticism welcome as always.

    Specs:
    M20B25 (stock internals)
    Metric Blue headbolts
    Stock Goetze headgasket
    Modified early ebay manifold

    Knockoff boost controller
    Holset Hx35 (open downpipe)
    Ebay intercooler
    Custom charge pipes
Motronic 1.3 with timing retard chip
    M30 AFM
    Begi 2025 RRFPR
    AEM wideband

You could run 17 psi no problem with megasquirt and proper tuning.

No megasquirt and no proper tuning. I pulled 17psi for all of ten pulls, but it was worth it. loving the turbo now that its tuned @8psi.

Ceramic coated it, but I have seen people use VHT flameproof with success

No videos yet, hoping to get a couple this weekend. All in all the whole setup ran me about $800 or so. This is with a ton of help from mattdk318i who is an awesome welder and had multiple parts he sold me. Go turbo! Just the sound is worth it!

Yep, got the turbo/piping/injectors/chip/wideband etc. for $500. A great deal from a friend. Gasket went from a few causes. Tuning on the motronic and some head studs would have helped. Megasquirt is only as good as the tune you can write
