just got rear ended heading north on the 101 the traffic had just came to a stop and the car 2 cars behind me didnt stop in time and rear ended a the e90 infront of me which then hit me and ended up being a 6 car pile up everyone was ok my neck is a bit sore but it is just such a shitty situation to be in.

Terrible story. When traffic comes to a quick halt I'm always prepared to switch lanes/drive on the shoulder/drive on grass/drive on sidewalk. I always look at my rearview because I've saved my E30 (and probably my life) more then once. I was on my way to philly and traffic came to a 70 to pretty much crawling very quickly and it was rush hour so im sure a lot of people were distracted by petty shit. Needless to say, I stopped, and I saw a fucking HUGE tractor trailer coming towards me at the same speed I was going 30 seconds ago (60mph). quickly got the fuck out of there and drove onto the grass lickitly split and the tractor trailer rear ended the SUV in front of me and totaled the fuck out of it.

That BLOWS! Its always a fear of each of us with well maintained and modded e30's. Sounds like you are in for the standard steps
1.Have insurance TOTAL the e30
2. Buy back crashed e30
3. Pull salvageable / rare goodies
4. Find good clean , rust free rolling shell e30
5. Install all the goodies removed in step 3
Really sorry for the loss and any accident you can walk away from under your own power is whats important!
