After a several years on the TCL, and many thousands of E30 posts, i could not resist passing up the perfect e30 to fix up. My search began about 6 months ago, actively looking for a late model e30, 325i or is, black interior, 5 speed, and NOT a convertible. (It rains so much here).<p>I am glad to say that no more shall i search for an e30, (for the immediate future), and hopefully over the next couple weeks i will be fixing this one up to a usable daily driver state.<p>Some Specs.<p>1990 BMW 325i, black leather, 5 speed.<br>120,xxx miles on the clock (still functions !)<br>Interior is in very good shape for a 17 year old car (sorry couldn't snap some pics)<br>Muffler and suspension is shot.<br>Idle problem, either the TPS or a vacuum leak (best guess)<br>timing belt / water pump done 5k ago.<br>rebuilt head.<br>Control arms done at 90k<br>steering / brake flush 2k ago.<p>What i plan to do:<br>Chip<br>Suspension + Springs (Any recommendations?) it will be a daily driver, and 5% of the time see some track use.<br>Replace Muffler<br>New plugs<br>Clean injectors<br>Short shifter, probably from a Z4 or an e36 m3<br>tranny flush / diff flush.
well, alot of cosmetic things have happened over the years, and everything is getting buttoned up...

checked oil level, (even with yesterday), added 1/2 quart to bring the dip stick level to a little over 1/2 way
checked lower intake area, no oil drips yet.
screw down the lower front panel of drivers area

7/5/2010 Put in head.
rebuild head - dipped, skimmed, valve seals
head gasket, new studs, nuts
10/11/2010 New timing belt
new accessory belt (minus ac condenser)
dino oil / new filter
new air fliter
OEM coolant
4/2/2011 IS sport seat upgrade (front 2) (leather cleaned)
4/19/2011 parking plastic (smoked) 1 set
ECU Chip bosch 173 (upgrade ebay chip)
replace defrost button.
fill more coolant and steering fluid
replace fuel gauge from motometer gauges (fuel gauge still broken)
4/20/2011 fixed turn light being too fast
swapped heater core hoses (filled more coolant)
removed fog lamps
fix headlight alignment ...
4/21/2011 put in bmw original floor mats.

install 13obc / stalk / gong / control
fixed light bar with radio shack 6v bulbs
interior all buttoned up.
fixed headlight wiring on the passenger side
mounted speaker covers, and padded crossovers
fixed plastic broken piece on the gong
5/27/2011 fixed broken defrost button light
fixed the passenger window switch
fixed headlight wiring on drivers side
re-installed kiv-bt900 that i got from RMA.
wired the speakers up again
replaced gong with a working one
Fix the windshield wiper hose and mount to tank
put in m50 injectors (pull fuse 11 and run engine) clean injectors
leaking coolant near the intake manifold (clean wires)
aligned the HID beams higher
5/31/2011 installed shortshifter 328/m3
installed shift boot
pull out right front tweeter
6/2/2011 wire extra speaker wire to right passenger, and wire up woofer
pull seatbelt through correctly
punch out ski-pass through
6/4/2011 pull out trunk tar
luke box 10" ported subwoofer box
re-wire rear + and - mistake
install obcon ob-104 dvc
6/5/2011 re-install box to fit in trunk (sanded body filler)
mounted recessed bolt fittings in the box.
get sewing kit and repair the broken carpet tab, gorilla tape
remove some foam from the back seat
6/6/2011 shaved tweeters plastic housing to fit tweeter enclosure
mounted 1/4" 20 3" bolts Phillips into mount box secure to back of the car
removed extra speaker wire
re-wired the speakers back into the amp
6/7/2011 "mount and wire new tweeter to the passenger front speaker pods
SEAS Prestige 27TFFNC/G (H1396) 1"" Textile Dome Tweeter"
6/16/2011 mtech 2 steering wheel
6/29/2011 reinstall kappa five z
7/29/2011 black trim paint with sem 39143 (did front grill)
Paint and install IS lip / + front valence re prep and spray
replace fog light, h3 55w yellow fog light bulb
8/2/2011 replaced all lip tabs (because the plugs were snapped off)
amp returned
fitted ps trim piece
8/6/2011 welded reinforced trailing arm tabs from turner, sprayed rustoliem
fixed sway upper mount and re-lubed
removed washer from upper mount, to get nyloc washer to fit correctly
added new distributer and ignition rotor
8/15/2011 prep rear bumper for paint and new trim.
8/16/2011 prep front bumper for paint and new trim
8/30/2011 put on repainted bumper (front and rear)

cleaned a bit of oil from the bottom of the car
4/14/2012 steering rack upgrade (need to punch firewall) 2.5 lock
punched firewall
sealed with grey primer
DIY alignment, pulls slightly to the left

windsheild washer sensor replacement
new e36 tie rod ends
new hoses from nebar hoses (High pressure, 2 low pressure lines)
