Clean car! I miss my white 4 door. Plans to repaint front valance? ;)
Yea, it's definitely near the top of the to-do list. Right now it is painted with a very coarse paint, its almost like a coarse bed liner. Is this normal, or did an PO paint it with this stuff so it is a little more durable?
He wasn't around because he spent 7 years in jail for assault. There was a group of guys doing a 24v swap on someones car and one of the neighbor kids came over and starting too many questions. Tempers flared, sawzalls did work, and he cut the kids leg off. The victim later joined this forum under the name "5toes".

It shouldn't be coarse as in rough like sandpaper. It should be a very thick but decently smooth feeling paint. It will have a TON of orange peel though-that's normal if that's what you meant by coarse.

Umm fiberglass? Where do you get your info? It's undercoating.
yep its some type of undercoating or chipguard. the front valence is steel and coated from the factory before it was painted. thats why its textured. id imagine its the same black stuff that you will see on the bottom of your rockers and rear valence

Yeah it's like a rubberized undercoating.

Sand all the undercoating off or take the valance itself to a place that can blast it for you. Garnet is the media that I would have them use. Not as abrasive as sand and will not pit the valance metal structure. Then spray a few coats of self etching primer. Wet Sand . Then paint with a nice 2 stage paint. Wet sand clear coat and compound/polish.
Lots of work but it will be amazing looking and smooth as a babies butt!
