Trying again, this time with moar LSD.

And no I don't mean drugs, lol.

A few of you may remember this pic from the last time I was here:

She was my first. But sadly, at the end of the first summer I was still so ignorant of common BMW problems(I was probably only a guibo and csb away from curing the noises that scared me) that I sold her for a stupid low sum and attempted to move on.

I went through a few cars, an E36 318ti, an E28 535is, and....a 1.8 Miata...but none of them gave me the feel I wanted. You know what I'm talking about; that damn E30 chassis, no matter what else you drive, just feels right. Fuck spec sheets and lap times, I just wanted that feeling back.

    Enter, My new bucket:

My new-to-me 325es that I paid way too much for. Nice paint, except for the horrible rust in a couple places, along with random bits that don't work.

Picked up some seats from a local yard, apparently they've had them for a few years.

Don't have any other pictures just yet. This was all I could get with my cell before my luck hit (barely 24 hours in). The brakes sucked absolute ass, and seeing as I figured it was the Bush Sr. era fluid in the reservoir my friend and I proceeded to flush it. An hour after the job was completed, I tried leaving my friends place, and the brakes were stuck like I was standing on them. Just gonna try and find some used calipers, rebuild them, throw em on, and cross fingers.

    Good to be back.

Yes I know, not the best way to clean them. But you didn't see the inch of shit that was covering them. They've literally been sitting on the ground outside, for a number of years(according the the counter person).

Alrighty, well this has been a fun first week...without my new car. Grabbed some used calipers that will be going on her, but while I was chatting with the manager of a shop I used to go to, he mentioned that another cause of my symptoms may be a plugged up ABS pump, so that'll be fun. I'll spend some time attempting to diagnose the car before tossing on the calipers, if it is the pump....well yay for pick n pull, may even just go and grab the pump beforehand.

Other than that, trying to stay excited. After the car is moving it'll be time for other things...

            -Timing Belt & Water Pump
            -Cooling hose replacement.
            -Fix shifter slop
-Fan clutch (or electric fan conversion???)
-Diagnose that driveline clunk(maybe csb or motor mounts. guibo and other rubber look old but not torn yet)
-Fix the sunroof(either cables need changing or maybe the motor teeth are stripped)
            -885 Head swap?
            -Mount my E21 Recaros.

            ...Body Work.

I think all the above listed(besides the body work) is possible for under a grand so long as I find cheap help (always down to front beer and food!) or at least keep it out of a shop.

              ALSO: Quick Question.

Has anyone had any trouble smogging an eta with the i top end parts? Visual may be an issue I understand because a few things like the ICV are moved around, but what about numbers?

So I'm bad at updating these, not entirely much has happened, but ya gotta start somewhere yeah?

Brake issue ended up being a frozen caliper, took me a weeek to finish the timing belt job (basically had to do it twice cause I botched the water pump gasket, but my friends driveway is 40 miles away...), threw in some E21 Recaros, new stereo, and that's pretty much it.

                Long second day...

New deck! Awesome little thing with Pandora control through the unit.

                Before:

                After:

Passed smog with flying colors(surprising how clean it was actually...) though it still has an occasional surge on acceleration. I figure it's the 02 sensor, or the coolant temp sensor, or the afm...or all of them

Still, most everything works, odo included!

However, anyone know where I can get a new leather one the old style mushroom knob?

School started, and with that the rest of my residual funds were blown away. Starting to freak out and consider selling her, but we'll see what happens. Trying to enjoy the drive as much as possible, took a long time to get back into an E30.

                Sigh...

Thanks! And, I just mean if you have Pandora (internet radio) on your phone, you can hook your phone up to the deck via usb and control it(switch stations, thumbs up or down, etc.) through the controls on the face rather than fiddling with your phone/mp3.

Got the ones from this thread:

I had to do a little muscling in order to get the seat bolted properly in the car, but I believe that's just cause the seats themselves are bent.
