    thank you much for sharing, i really wish to leave something behind like this for my kids or grandkids, e30 or not, those sentimental values are beyond all else.

        Massive respect, fantastic (albeit heartbreaking) story.

        If you ever do modify it, I'd say go OEM+ on things. Don't go swapping panels, or replacing whole interiors, but Just give it slight upgrades, with more modern or hidden parts. I don't know your family, but that's what I'd do.

        Regardless, I'm glad that something with this much history is in such good hands. Take care of it and it'll take care of you.
