    84 318i soon to be LS 1

    Let me start off by introducing myself i am Anup Patel from houston! And I am copying and pasting a thread I made I hi. So here it is! 1st major swap and car I ever had to restore! Build will be slow but I'm going to start buying parts for my ls1 and I'm looking for anywhere from 4-500 hp with a tune with the upgrade I want any suggestions and help would be appreciated! And main thing I need is Garrett's kit to do this! So if you chime in Garrett put me down for the mounting kit!

    Here is the 2nd car i will be pulling the motor out of. just a shot of the engine but its a 2000 camaro z28. the car had front end damage and i got the complete car for a steal @ 2500 bux. of course the motor mounts and all the other mounts will cost me another 1200. i will still have to consider misc parts. but in all i just wanted something differ. i know its been done but just not common. this isnt a build that will be done fast. i will take my time with it due to my work schedule and side businesses im starting.

    anyways here is the shot of the motor. sorry for the crappy camera phone shot .

          thats for the love guys but im still doing alot of research on the motor. i only plan on doing bigger cams, nice intake, full exhaust with no cats to a muffler with headers and a full retune. id like to see what kinda power gains i will have with that. if i can do something with the stock cams please someone let me know besides changing them out or a port and polish.

          suspension wise all the suspension will be changed out with OEM stuff cept bc racing coilovers. can someone direct me on where to find a link to push the front and rear bumpers in. i hate how they stick out lol and a nice lip kit. i like the mtech 2 but ill probably buy a rep kit. ill see.

          any other recommendations suspension and body wise would be deeply appreciated. also post links if you guys can to mod recommendations please.

            I don't think garret is going to do another run of his kits, BUT if you want to spend 3k I might sell you mine.
            What kind of budget do you have?

              Why you say that? And didn't he sell the kit and manual for 1250? What makes your kit worth 3k unless you are adding other stuff to the same kit he was selling to make add up to 3k. If you are selling the same exact kit with manual and trying to get 3k for that sorry its not happening.

              I'm only looking to spend what he advertised his kit for.

                First thing you need to do, is know that an LS1 don't have "cams". It's a single cam engine :p


                But all joking aside. Good luck on your project!

                  Lol sorry hahah but yea thanks any help on upgrading the motor a bit like on specific parts and brands for a good price?

                    I'm more of an LT1 and older SBC guy. But i think Exodus_2pt0 on here has messed with some and has close friends that have modified LSx engines. Maybe he'll chime in to what would be a nice head/cam/intake setup that will wake the LS up! I just know if i had one, a cam would be one of the first on my list. I don't really care for smooth sounding V8's.

                      We actually just sold our Ls2 that put down around 450whp with just a MS4 cam, chromoly pushrods and dual valve springs.

                      I had a 5.3 swap in the works but I didn't want to ruin my car. Yea, it wouldn't have been ruined but it wouldn't have been the same either. I will pick up a shell one day to go through with it.

                      That being said, throw a MS3 cam in there and you will be very very happy.

                              im trying to stay around 4500-5000 to get the motor in the car running with the necessary componets. im 2800 bux in already. I still need the $1200 mounting kit. if you sell me the kit for what you paid that would be nice. that way i dont have to bother garret. i want to do slight upgrades to the motor but ill see....
