My first E30

Congrats on the car man!

Well, today I decided to do something for the 316 (lazy) and painted the grills =)

Since one of them came from another car, they had mismatched tones of black, wich looked really bad...

Took the grills off, washed em and they look like this



You can see how bad they were, not black at all... Kinda gray D:



After some sanding and painting here's the final result, lucky we had good weather today :)

And before putting them back, checked everything was "fine" there, also cleaned a little



Final result really shows off !

Never had the time to take some interior shots, so I decided to go for it today... Here it is.




Idk how you call this interior color, but I like it... Not too common I guess...

I love this rear curtain or however it's called, but the "clip" or "thing" where it hangs it's missing, so the PO's solution was this...



And I don't like it...

Does anyone have a picture of how that thing goes from factory? Hopefully I can come with a solution... Or any ideas?

QUICK UPDATE:

So since last time I've decided the future of this car... I got my hands on an Bmw Intake manifold from a 2002 Tii... Yes, I'm going DCOE.

This makes me wonder... Is the original ignition system good enough? Because I already have MSD 8.5mm cables and a MSD Coil... So maybe a MSD 6AL will complete the combo? Or it's a no-no?

Also, I have a new 2 inches exhaust line, makes almost no noise (as I like it) and a little purr on high rpms (I guess since I have no tacho lol)

Ohh and also I purchased a Getrag 245, so Im going 5 speed. Still with the 3.64 diff.

The main idea of all this is try to recreate the "2002 formula", since mi 316 is light and nimble and I already have the M10 engine... And also I love the 70's performance, that era for me was golden (even since I didn't live it)

PLEASE, give me some feedback on this. I'd love to read some thoughts on my plans, opinions and criticism... Thanks in advance, I'll post along with the progress (not for now since I don't have money now, lol)

your plans sound pretty awesome. i bet very few other e30's will be set up the same as yours.. ever think of doing a hotter cam along with the rest of the changes?

Evandael, yes, a cam and bigger valves are part of the plan but on a loger term... This car is still my daily haha... And I forgot to mention, I'm going to use a lightened fly wheel when I change the gearbox... Just waiting for the money (as lame as it sounds) and working hard.
