Finally got some good pics of the car, my blue '88 325is

Got sick of taking pics with my iphone, so finally snapped some good ones today. Paint is all done (Interlagos blue). Wet sanded, buffed, wet sanded, etc. Laid down the 1st coat of wax today.

The paint is far from perfect. lots of little imperfections here and there, but it was a garage paint job that cost us a total of $400 including all the paint, primer, clear, supplies, etc. It'll be a DD, so its probably best its not perfect! Car is never going to be done, but it's looking 100x better than it did when i got it

Also installed the Kamotors CAI this weekend and am very pleased. Routed the snorkel under/between the headlights and cut a small piece of the grill out for better air flow, just need to throw a little screen in to keep the large bugs and crap out. Still need to clean up the engine bay but it's about finished.

Oh, i lip coming off this week, is lip is in the mail! And i know i need to fix the steering wheel. oops.

Thanks! My father and I painted it ourselves. He paints all his own stuff and does small side jobs. We don't have a booth or anything so it's all done in our garage haha. And yeah we did the door jams, trunk, inside the hood and all that.

I love seeing stuff like this. I remember your other thread. Does your bro(I think you said it was your bro?), still have that 2002 that was in one of your pics from your build thread?

It must feel so good, but like you said, these things are never done.

I don't know what you used to cut/polish the paint, but in my experience, and from what I've read from others, Meguiars 105 cut polish, followed by finer cut 205 polish on an orange pad on a DA polisher would be worth a try if and when you ever decide to polish her again.

Thanks a lot man! Yeah it's a good feeling. Bro still does have the 2002. We are going through the motor this winter to freshen it up but he's still got it.

Not sure what my pops used to buff it with. I know he used the DA on the entire car. I just hand waxed it today with some turtle wax ice synthetic paste after a good wash with some meguires. Have a bunch leftover stuff from clearance when I worked at advance auto haha. Works pretty well IMO. Next time I'll try the meguires with the DA!
