lol, nah i only want it from experience, see my dads car is damn low (right on the legal limit) and its not exactly driveway/speedhump friendly, so if i got bags i could just pump it up so i dont scrape the car
and guys i thought it was an M10 engine???

what are some stats about the M40/42, like performace and stuff
and what kinda of light performance mods would be good (like airfilters, exhausts and such)

                  Welcome dude...

Looks like a beaut first car, prime for modding! Shakey and a few of the other boys on this site can point you in the right direction for 318i performance....

I got many of my parts through Glenn (OLD323) at www.carshine.com.au can't recommend him highly enough! :D Very happy camper (even if he is a slappa :p )! :D

I couldn't tell you. America didn't get the M40. I hear that the M42 and the M40 are very different though.
The BMW 318 is back. With a vengeance.

definatly M40, only has 85ish kw, still better than M10 though. I wouldn't bother doing performance mods, not worth the money, just save for bigger engine or suspension or brake upgrade.

Don't get airbags, wont handle anything like a car with decent spring/shock setup.

And get coil-overs... you can wind em up for street and track use, then wind em down for show :D
